“That was fast,” I said as I walked up to him, the surprise in my voice impossible to hide.
Kade smiled slightly and opened the passenger door for me with an ease that felf almost automatic. “Harrison heard you were the one who acquired those manuscripts. He cleared his schedule.”
I got into the car, holding the box securely in my lap. “Thank you, Kade. I mean that.”
I understood exactly what this meant. Without him, someone in my current position, someone labeled as wolf–less and with no real standing in Blazeborn Pack, wouldn’t have had any chance of meeting Harrison.
Kade closed the door and walked around to the driver’s seat, his tone casual. “You don’t need to thank me. He’s interested in what you have. He collects rare manuscripts.”
That made sense.
The drive took us out toward the outskirts, the city gradually thinning until we reached a quiet, secluded estate that felt removed from everything else. The moment we stepped into the courtyard, a warm, familiar voice called out.
“Kade, you finally decided to show up.”
I looked over and saw Harrison standing among rows of plants, watering them like he didn’t have a care in the world, even though his presence alone carried weight.
Kade walked over naturally. “I’ve been busy. I came as soon as I had time.”
I followed behind him and watched as he casually took the watering can and helped without being asked. It was the first time I had seen him this relaxed around someone, and it told me more about their relationship than any introduction could.
Harrison handed the can over and then turned his attention to me, his eyes narrowing slightly with interest. “And you brought someone with you. That’s new.”
Kade gave a small cough, a hint of resignation in his tone. “This is Nira. I mentioned her before. She picked up a set of damaged manuscripts at the auction and wanted to ask if they can be restored.”
I stepped forward and extended my hand. “It’s an honor to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about

your work.”
Harrison studied me for a moment, something like surprise flashing across his face before he took my hand with a faintly amused expression. “I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting this. Anyone Kade personally brings here is usually… interesting.”
1 smiled but didn’t dwell on that, instead handing him the box directly. “Could you take a look and see if restoration is possible?”
He opened it carefully, and the moment he saw what was inside, his entire demeanor shifted. The casual case disappeared, replaced by focus.
“Wait… these are…” He turned a few pages, slower each time. “Ancient Lycan manuscripts. Early lineage records. The fact that these survived is remarkable.”
He continued examining them, his expression growing more serious. “The condition isn’t great. Some sections are heavily damaged, but it’s not beyond repair.”
Relief settled in naturally. “That’s good to hear. Would it be possible for me to observe while you work on them?”
