Chapter 155 Lingering Threat
Kade’s POV
Tinte slipped away minute by minute. My hands and feer had long gone muigh from the cold get 1 kep holding Nira tightly, not daring to relax even a little.
After an unknown stretch of time. Nira’s burning temperature finally eased, and her breathing gradually steadied.
A surge of joy welled up in my chest. I kept cooling her down gently, continuing to tend to her
It wasn’t until the late hours of the night that her fever finally broke completely. She fell into a peaceful sleep, and I let out a long, heavy sigh of relief.
Nira’s POV:
My consciousness slowly drifted back from a hazy fog. My eyelids felt as heavy as if a thousand–pound stone rested on them.
I tried to move my fingers slightly. My entire body ached as if it had been crushed, and a sharp, throbbing pain shot from the wound on my arm.
I couldn’t help sucking in a sharp breath. Instinctively, I wanted to call for Lyra.
But I called twice and got no response. I remembered then–Lyra was in hibernation.
I winced softly. The movement pulled at my wound, sending a fresh jolt of pain through me.
Kade, who’d been dozing beside me, jolted awake.
He lifted his head sharply, his eyes heavy with fatigue yet sharp with alertness. But the moment he saw me, his expression softened instantly.
“You’re awake, Nira!”
Kade’s voice brimmed with excitement. He quickly sat up straight and gently supported my shoulder. ‘Don’t move. Your wound was just bandaged last night.”
I stared at him, confused and dazed..
Kade was shirtless. I glanced down and realized I was wearing his clothes.
Kade followed my gaze, looking down at his bare chest. He explained calmly, “Your clothes were torn to shreds. I had no choice but to put mine on you.”

He hurried to add, “I kept my eyes closed the whole time while changing you. I didn’t see a thing.”
His voice grew quieter and quieter as he spoke.

He looked cautious, the kind of carefulness one’d never expect from an Alpha King her.
Warmth flooded my heart at his care and respect.
I smiled and waved my hand. “It’s fine. I don’t mind. We’re just friends anyway
Kade’s face fell, and he frowned. He went quiet after that.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, worried. I reached out and grabbed his hand, checking him over.
“Even with your powerful wolf spirit protecting you, this fight drained you. You’ve taken some damage You need to rest and recover quickly.” I said gently, concerned.
Kade looked at me, his gaze growing warm and intense. “It’s just a small injury. I can handle it. Besides, now that you’re awake, there’s nothing to worry about.”
I smiled confidently. “Once I’ve rested a little, I’ll treat your injuries.”
A thought suddenly struck me. I tensed and glanced around, lowering my voice. “Are those hitmen still nearby?”
Kade’s expression turned serious in an instant.
He nodded slightly. “I can’t smell them, but they might be hiding their scent on purpose. We can’t stay here long. We’ll leave as soon as you’ve recovered a little.”
I bit my lip, clenching my fists firmly. “I’m fine. Let’s go now. Every second we stay here is another risk.
I tried to stand, but the movement pulled at my wound, making me stumble.
Kade caught me in an instant, his brows furrowed. “Don’t push yourself. You’re still weak.” His voice was low and firm, full of unyielding authority.
I glanced at him, unwilling to admit defeat, but finally nodded. “Fine. But we can’t delay for long.”
Kade began to pack our things, wiping away all traces and masking our scent completely.
I sat to the side, carefully checking my body. The infected, rotted part of my wound was gone, cleaned and bandaged neatly. Most of the poison in my body was gone too.
I knew how close I’d come to dying last night, poisoned and without Lyra’s protection. If Kade hadn’t been there, I never would’ve survived.
My heart ached at his careful care.
I suddenly wondered–what if he was my fated mate?
But Lyra had been unstable since waking up, and my own scent was erratic. Recognizing a mate wasn’t easy right now.
I sighed softly.
