Chapter 184 The Riding Outfit
Nira’s POV:

“Alright,” I said after a brief hesitation, giving a small nod.
It had been forever since I’d let Lyra really stretch her legs. Both of us missed that rush of pure freedom. A hunting trip on horseback might be the next best thing
When Kade heard me agree, something like happiness flashed in his eyes.
Was he… asking me out?
I shook my head quickly, telling myself I was reading way too much into it.
Kade’s POV:
From the moment Nira said yes, I’d been counting down the hours till the weekend.
Just thinking about spending a whole day alone with her had me restless with excitement–even though my wolf, Odin, kept grumbling about me getting involved with a human girl.

Jett’s POV:
I hadn’t seen Kade this worked up and eager in ages.
All because of a date with Nira, right?
I had to admit, even without a wolf spirit, she had this… presence. A natural pull that even high–born she–wolves from the oldest families couldn’t touch.
Kade was putting serious effort into this. I’d been down at the stables for days getting everything ready.
He looked over the latest rack of riding gear, shook his head, and sighed. “Next.”
I motioned for the attendant to bring in another set.
୮
This was getting stressful. We’d been at it all morning and he hadn’t liked a single one. Not a good look for me.
I’d pulled every favor I had to get the best riding outfits across the whole Pack Alliance.
From classic cuts to sleek modern designs, each piece was from a top designer. Still, nothing clicked:
“Mr. Howell, these are the season’s latest. The tailoring and materials are premium. Maybe take another look?” I suggested carefully.
He glanced over and frowned, his tone flat. “Too basic. Nothing stands out.”
I’d never seen him so picky about clothes. Normally, he’d just go with his usual style. But this wasn’t normal—this was for Nira

Then it hit me. I knew what might actually work. I slipped out for a minute.
“Mr. Howell, what about these?
He eyed the new selections I’d brought in, his brow furrowing slightly. He sounded unsure.
“Aren’t these… a bit much?”
I jumped in, “Mr. Howell, you usually dress pretty low–key, Could be nice to switch it up. Besides, Ms. Soren’s young and vibrant. If you wear something with a little more color, you’ll… complement her better.”
Sure enough, at the word “complement“, his eyes shifted. He was quiet for a beat, then looked back at the brighter options.
“That one,” he said, pointing to a deep crimson set.
I let out a quiet breath of relief and nodded. “Right away, Mr. Howell.”
But at the same time, I couldn’t shake this worry. It really seemed like Kade’s feelings for Nira were the real deal.
But Nira didn’t have a wolf. He was next in line to be Alpha King. Would the Council of Elders–would the packs–ever accept a human as their Luna?
Kade’s POV:
I changed into the red riding outfit Jett had picked out and waited outside the stables with a white mare. Checked my watch again. Should I call Nira?
Just then, a car rolled up. Instinctively, I straightened up and put on an easy smile.
The door opened and Nira stepped out.
I started toward her–but then I saw the two people climbing out right behind her, and my smile stuck in place.
I’d pictured today being just me and Nira. A real date. Why did she have to bring along a couple of third wheels?
My eyes landed on Tessa, who was already chattering away. Her friend Derrick, who had some sense, gently pulled her aside.
That made me feel slightly better. Maybe Derrick could keep Tessa occupied, and then–
Before I could finish the thought, another car pulled up. Zane and Briar hopped out. Zane started complaining right away, “Hey, you guys took off without us!”
Seeing them show up too, my mood tanked completely.
This whole carefully planned day with Nira was about to get wrecked by a bunch of unwanted extras.
I was just about to say something when Nira hurried over, looking genuinely sorry. “Kade, I’m really sorry, Tessa overheard we were coming riding and invited herself. I couldn’t exactly tell her no.
“And Zane and Briar… I think Tessa probably texted them.”
Seeing that guilty, regretful look on her face, my irritation just melted.
