Nira’s POV:
With a loud splash, Nolan fell into the water, limbs flailing.

The moment his head surfaced, I grabbed a golf club that someone had left by the pool. Without a second thought, I channeled Lyra’s strength and drove the club down, smashing him back under.
“Help! Help!” Nolan thrashed in panic, choking on mouthfuls of water, his arms flapping helplessly.
I scoffed.
He had this pool filled just to humiliate me, and Lyra had already picked up on the chemical agents he added–something that messed with buoyancy and dragged people under faster.
He’d been planning to drown me. Too bad the plan backfired. Fueled by fury, I shoved the golf club down harder.
His wolf was no match for mine. His body kept sinking deeper and deeper.
Off to the side, Janice screamed for help, “Somebody! Help him!”
“Nira, stop! Nolan’s going to die!”
While she screamed, she suddenly lunged at me from behind. But Lyra had sensed it coming. My body shifted instinctively, dodging the attack.
As Janice’s wolf eyes flared and she started to transform, I kicked her square in the back of the leg and launched her straight into the pool.
Another splash.
She landed right on top of Nolan, sending them both back under again.
“Help! Help!” Janice shrieked, panicking as she clung to Nolan’s neck, practically sitting on top
of him.
Nolan had barely come up for air before she pushed him right back under. He choked again, swallowing even more water.
Jenna came running over, panic in her voice. When she saw the two of them struggling in the

water, then looked over at me, she screamed.
“Nira, what the hell are you doing?!”

Several house staff jumped into the water to pull them out. I figured they’d had enough. Tossing the golf club aside, I stepped back.
It took a while, but eventually they dragged the two of them out.
Nolan looked like a drowned corpse. Pale and breathless, he gasped for air, clothes soaked, completely humiliated.
Janice didn’t look much better. Her hair was plastered to her face, arms wrapped around herself, trembling all over. Her eyes were full of fear and shock.
Jenna rushed to them, hovering anxiously between the two, yelling curses at me under her breath.
“You vicious brat! Were you trying to kill them?!”
I stared at her coldly. “They just swallowed some pool water. These two are supposed to be high–ranking wolves. That shouldn’t kill them.”
Nolan glanced at me, his expression a mess of rage, confusion, and disbelief.
“You’ve lost your damn mind!” Jenna screamed, eyes red with fury. She unleashed her Luna presence and barked out, “Somebody! Teach her a lesson!”
But the Omegas standing around didn’t move. They were the same ones who had just seen me take down a black wolf assassin with my bare hands.
They shot nervous glances at me, frozen in place.
Jenna’s voice rose again. “What are you all waiting for? I said, hit her!”
I crossed my arms and spoke calmly, “Tomorrow is Janice’s birthday party. I don’t mind showing up with a bruised face. Let’s see how the guests from every pack react to that disgrace.”
Jenna froze, eyes narrowing in frustration.
Nolan had finally caught his breath and shouted, “Mom, we can’t let her get away with this! If we have to, just lock her up tomorrow!”
I shot him a glance, then said lazily, “Sure. While you’re downstairs partying, I’ll be upstairs.

making plenty of noise. Let’s see who ends up stealing the spotlight.”

Jenna hesitated. Before she could speak, Janice, already calculating her next move, stepped in with a soft voice.
“Mom… if Mr. Howell finds out we locked up Nira, it might not go over well. No matter what, she’s still Mr. Howell’s chosen mate. She represents him, too.”
Now Jenna looked genuinely alarmed. She knew better than to cross Kade.
Seeing right through her hesitation, I smirked and added just to rattle her, “Imagine what Kade would do if he found out you laid a hand on his chosen mate and embarrassed him in front of the packs. I’ve heard what he’s done to people who cross him. Entire families wiped out, even high–ranking alphas.”
Jenna’s face went ghost white. Her body even trembled a little.
It stopped being fun the moment I realized how easy it was to scare her. I waved her off and turned to leave. “Well, if no one’s going to hit me, I’m heading back.”
Nolan’s voice came snarling after me.
“Nira, just you wait! Once the Howells toss you aside, I’ll make sure you suffer so badly you’ll wish you were dead!”
I didn’t even flinch. Without a glance back, I walked straight toward my room.
As soon as I got inside, I pulled out my phone and dialed a number.
