Chapter 348 The Race Challenge
Nira’s POV:
Lyra picked up his scent immediately it was Desmond.
A moment later, his voice came from the other side of the door. “Nira! Come on, let’s hit the mall!”
The door swung open, and Desmond barged in with his usual cheerful energy.

When he spotted Kade and me in such a cozy position, he threw a hand over his eyes dramatically. “Whoa, am interrupting something here?”
I shot him a look. “You’re being extra, Mr. Hudson.”
“Haha!” He laughed and stepped inside. Noticing Kade’s bandages had been changed, he turned to me. “Seriously, let me get you out of here for a bit. It’ll be fun.
“Staying indoors all day is boring,” Desmond added, glancing toward Kade. “You don’t mind, do you, Mr. Howell?”
Kade flashed his wolf eyes in a mock–threatening glare. “Take good care of her. If she comes back with even a hair out of place, I’m holding you responsible.”
“Got it,” Desmond replied, making a silly salute.
Kade gave me a gentle nudge. “Go on. It’ll be good for you to get some air.”
I finally stood up and said to him, “Then you rest up. I won’t be long.”
“Mm,” Kade answered with a soft smile.
“Alright, you two are worse than an old married couple,” Desmond cut in, grabbing my arm and pulling me toward the door.
Desmond’s sports car flew along the winding coastal highway that bordered Creekshade Pack territory. The roar of the engine mixed with the crash of ocean waves below.
“Pretty thrilling, huh?” Desmond shot me a smug grin from the driver’s seat.
I brushed my wind–whipped hair out of my face. “That was amazing!”
cars roared up from behind. The leader–a silver Lamborghini–swerved into a sharp drift and

ssion darkened. He flashed his wolf eyes in warning. “Watch your mouth, Victor. Now move your car.” apped at him, Desmond leaned toward me and muttered, “That’s Victor Rothschild–only son of the wealthiest

fmance mogut in Creekshade. Total trust–fund brat. Ignore him. Even without a wolf spirit, you’re ten times the person he’ll ever
be”
I met his eyes calmly. “Don’t worry. His words don’t bother me.”
Victor kept his gaze fixed on me, interest sparkling in his eyes. “Hey gorgeous, riding with this guy has gotta be horing. Why not hop in with me? I’ll show you what real speed feels like
I gave him an icy look. “Not interested.”
“Don’t be like that!” Victor pressed. “Tell you what–let’s make it interesting. We race. I win, you come to my yacht party tonight. If I lose… this Lamborghini is yours.”
Desmond’s wolf eyes flashed again, furious. “Victor, you-”

“Deal.” I cut Desmond off, letting out a low, mocking laugh. I met Victor’s stare. “But I’m adding one condition. If you lose, you stay. out of our way every time we cross paths from now on.”
Victor let out a sharp whistle. “You’ve got yourself a deal!”
He shot me a cocky grin. “The lighthouse, ten minutes. A deal’s a deal, beautiful.”
As Victor’s convoy sped off, Desmond wiped cold sweat from his brow. “Nira, have you lost your mind? Victor’s a pro racer. He could drive this mountain road blindfolded!”
I calmly fastened my seatbelt. “Desmond, let me drive.”

Desmond’s POV:
“What?” I couldn’t believe Nira had actually agreed to that bet.
She didn’t have a wolf spirit–her reflexes were nowhere near Victor’s level, and the guy raced professionally on top of that!
How on earth did she think she could win?
“Trust me,” Nira said, her gaze steady and certain. “We’re not losing.”
Still half in doubt, I switched seats with her.
The moment Nira’s hands closed around the steering wheel, her entire presence shifted.
Usually she was so calm and controlled, but right then I sensed something powerful radiating from her–the kind of aura I’d only ever felt from Alpha–level wolves.
The engine roared to life, and the car shot forward like an arrow.
At the first seaside curve, Nira executed a flawless drift, blue smoke swirling up from the tires.
The car shook so hard I had to white–knuckle the handle above the door, but Nira beside me stayed perfectly composed. And in her eyes–something I’d never seen before: a spark of pure excitement, edged with a hint of madness.
“Holy crap!” I stared at the steep drop just beyond the window and couldn’t help but throw her a thumbs–up. “You’re even crazier

Nira’s lips curled into a confident smile. “We’re just getting started.”
