As we approached the final S–curve, just as I was about to overtake him, Victor suddenly jerked his steering wheel. His silver Lamborghini swerved toward me like a wild animal trying to slam me off the road.
“Watch it!” Desmond shouted.

I was already on high alert. At the very last moment, I slammed the accelerator and my car shot forward like an arrow.
Victor’s vehicle missed my side mirror by inches.

Mond slumped in his seat, gasping. “My heart… I think I lost ten years off my life back there.
Seriously, Nira,” he panted, “I was so scared I almost shifted and bailed on the spot!”
I offered a faint smile and nodded toward the window.
Outside, Victor stumbled out of his car, white as a sheet.

I shrugged. “Ignore him.”
“But…” He shot me a sideways look. “The way you drove back there… it was unreal. Even I broke out in a cold sweat
“Nira, honestly, your reflexes and control… they’re sharper than some high–ranked werewolves I’ve known.“”

Once all of this was over, I wanted to come clean to Kade, then take him to Silvermoon to spend some time with my foster father…
As soon as we walked into the Hudson estate, Desmond burst into the living room, waving his arms excitedly. “You guys should’ve seen it! Nira was absolutely incredible out there!”
Kade was lounging by the window, soaking up the afternoon sun. He lifted his head. “What happened?”
“She totally destroyed that jerk Victor!” Desmond dropped onto the couch beside Kade, buzzing with energy. “The guy tried to run us off the road to win, but Nira pulled off this insane drift and forced him right to the edge of the cliff!”
Kade’s brow furrowed slightly, his worried gaze shifting to me. “Are you hurt?”
I shook my head, a small smile on my lips. “Not a scratch.”
“And the funniest part,” Desmond went on, still animated, “is that Victor was so blown away by Nira that now he’s asking everyone about her. That guy is practically-”
He caught himself, clapping a hand over his mouth, then glanced cautiously at Kade. “Uh… I mean, that’s just Victor being Victor. Nira didn’t even acknowledge him…”

Kade let out a low chuckle and moved to sit beside me. “The girl I’m with is that amazing. It’d be weird if people didn’t notice.”
I shot him a playful look. “Oh? No jealousy?”
