Tessa didn’t even think about tracking down whoever made the post anymore. She pushed her way straight through the crowd and hurried over to the bulletin board. The moment her eyes landed on the rankings, she spotted Nira’s name sitting at the very top, every subject marked with a perfect score so clean it almost didn’t look real.
She instinctively wanted to cheer, but the mood around her stopped her cold.
Instead of excitement, there was a low, restless buzz spreading through the crowd, and before long, the whispers turned into open speculation.
“So the leak wasn’t fake after all? Nira, the girl without a wolf, got perfect scores across the board? That’s ridiculous. There’s no way those numbers are legit.”
“Exactly. And the person who posted it even knew the exact scores ahead of time. That’s not a guess. They clearly have inside information, which means something’s definitely off.”
“Come on, a middle school dropout with no wolf beating last year’s top pureblood recruit? That’s not impressive, that’s straight–up fake.”
“If you had the answer key, anyone could take first place.”
Tessa’s face flushed instantly, anger rising fast as she stepped forward. “That’s not true. Nira didn’t cheat. She earned every one of those scores.”
Her voice, however, barely made a dent. It was quickly swallowed by the growing wave of doubt and ridicule.
She tried to argue again, but before she could push further, Derrick grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the crowd.
She turned on him immediately, still fuming. “What are you doing? I was trying to set them straight!”
Derrick didn’t raise his voice. He just looked at her steadily. “And you think they’d listen? You’d just be wasting your time arguing in circles. If we really want to help Nira, we should find the person who made the post.”
Tessa paused, her frustration still there, but his words made sense. She let out a breath. “…Alright. Then how do we find them?”
Derrick glanced around before lowering his voice slightly. “All forum accounts are tied to real identities. Even if the post was processed or masked somehow, the backend system still logs

everything. If we can get access to the database, we can trace the original account”
Tessa’s eyes widened. “That’s not something you can just walk into. That’s the school’s network administration system. It’s heavily restricted.”
Derrick thought for a moment before answering, “I know someone in Computer Science, Leland. I’ll go ask if he’s willing to help.”
Tessa’s expression immediately brightened, and she nudged him forward. “Then go. The sooner the better.”
Derrick let out a quiet sigh. “Alright, I’m going now. You go find Nira first. I’ll catch up with you later.”
Nira’s POV:
I had just stepped out of Graham’s office when Tessa called, saying she was coming to find
While I was still on the phone with her, I caught the shift in the air around me. Several unfamiliar scents were closing in, sharp and unfriendly, and Lyra reacted instantly inside me, her presence tightening as she slipped into a ready stance.
The moment I hung up. I lifted my gaze.
A small group had already surrounded me.
I narrowed my eyes slightly, sweeping my gaze across them before speaking, my tone calm but edged. “Do you need something?”
The girl at the front stepped forward, her wolf eyes surfacing as she stared me down. “You’re Nira?”
Behind her, one of the girls muttered under her breath, though not nearly quiet enough, “Weren’t the rumors saying she’s ugly and doesn’t even have a wolf? The no wolf part checks out, but… how does she look like this?”
So that was what they’d been saying about me.
The leader clearly heard it too. She shot a sharp glare over her shoulder, her expression turning cold, and the girl immediately fell silent.
When she looked back at me, there was something new in her eyes, something sharper.
Jealousy.
