My eyes sharpened as my body dropped low in one smooth motion, using the shift in balance to channel Lyra’s power at full force. I drove the pipe forward in a tight arc, the swing precise and heavy as it connected directly with his knee.
The crack was unmistakable.
His leg gave out immediately, forcing him down as a raw, guttural cry tore out of him.
I followed through without hesitation, rising with the motion and bringing the pipe down hard across his back. The blow knocked the strength out of him completely, and he collapsed onto the ground, unable to move.
Another one came in from behind, a jagged scar cutting across his face, his jaws stretched wide as he lunged for me, fangs aimed for my neck.
I pivoted on instinct, the movement sharp and controlled as I turned into him. The pipe slammed straight into his mouth mid- lunge, the impact snapping his head back, and before he could recover, I drove a kick into his chest with full force.
His body lifted off the ground and slammed into the wall behind him, the impact leaving him completely still.
The rest didn’t last long.
Within seconds, every one of them was down, scattered across the concrete, groaning, broken, or not moving at all.
I let my gaze sweep over them once, cold and dismissive, before tossing the pipe aside and moving straight to Tessa.
I pulled her into my arms, holding her tight. “Tessa, I’m here. You’re okay now.”
“Nira…” Her voice cracked as she clung to me, shaking. “You finally came. I was so scared…”
I tightened my hold, one hand moving slowly along her back, steadying her as she trembled against me.
The factory doors burst open again.
Heavy footsteps echoed across the space as Derrick and Tessa’s brother rushed in, both breathing hard.
Derrick saw her immediately. Her torn clothes. The bruises on her face.
Something in him snapped.
His wolf surged forward, not fully shifted, but close enough. His eyes burned with raw, violent intent, and the air around him turned ice–cold.
“Tessa!” he roared, his voice echoing through the empty building.
The nearest guy had just managed to push himself up.
He didn’t even have time to react.
Derrick was already there.

His claws tore through him in one brutal motion, ripping him apart before the man could even understand what was happening. The scream cut off almost instantly, leaving nothing but silence and the aftermath.
Tessa’s brother moved just as fast.
He cut off another one trying to run, closing the distance in seconds before driving a kick into the back of his knee. The man dropped hard onto the ground.
Before he could say a word, his hair was yanked back, forcing his head up, and a crushing knee slammed straight into his face.
A dull heavy impact.
Blood sprayed as his body went limp.
Tessa’s brother didn’t stop there. He kicked him once more before turning to me, his eyes still burning with anger.
“Nira,” he said, his voice tight, edged with barely controlled rage, “take her and go. We’ll handle this.”
I looked at Tessa, at the state she was in, then nodded.
“Come on,” I said softly, helping her to her feet. “Let’s get you out of here.”
She stayed close, leaning into me, still shaken, letting me guide her out.
Once we got to the car, I wrapped a blanket around her shoulders and pulled her close again, giving her time to settle.
It took a while, but her breathing gradually steadied.
She tightened her grip on my hand, her voice hoarse. “Nira.., it was Rhett…”
