Chapter 97 A Worthy Opponent
Nira’s POV:

A tall guy in black–rim glasses walked into the auditorium, and the second he crossed the threshold, Lyra’s voice slipped into my mind with a playful edge.
She said, “He smells like straight–up genius, I’m not even kidding. And look at him, he’s not some scrawny coder either, he’s got real presence. You might want to watch out, he could actually be your competition.”
I let out a faint smile but didn’t answer her. Instead, I kept my eyes on him as he walked toward me.
His steps were steady and controlled, his expression sharp, and his gaze fixed directly on me like he had already decided why he was here.
Recognition spread through the crowd almost instantly.
Someone blurted out, “That’s Jasper! The Computer Science grad student, Jasper!”
Another voice followed right after, “Wait, Jasper? Didn’t he already get fast–tracked into a PhD? I heard he took gold at a major coding competition. He’s one of the two legends in our department!”
“No way, even Jasper showed up? This is about to get good.”
The entire room buzzed with excitement.
“Jasper’s here, Nira’s definitely in trouble now.”
“He’s one of the top programmers in the entire wolf community. There’s no way she beats him.”
“Jasper, show her what real skill looks like!”
He stopped right in front of me, his eyes calm but piercing. “Nira, I’m here to take you on.”
I crossed my arms casually and smiled. “Alright, what do you want to compete in?”
He adjusted his glasses slightly, his tone even. “Algorithm optimization. We solve the same problem, write our own code, and compare efficiency.”
“Sounds good to me.”
The match started immediately.
Naomi stepped forward and laid out the challenge. “You’ll be working with a dataset of tens of millions of e–commerce transactions. Your task is to identify the top one percent of users by total spending over the past year and calculate their average purchase frequency. You have 120 minutes. No prebuilt libraries, everything must be coded from scratch.”
A wave of reactions swept through the audience.
“Are you serious? That’s insanely hard.”
“Yeah, this isn’t just about handling big data, you need deep algorithm fundamentals.”

“And she doesn’t even have a wolf spirit. We process things with both our human mind and wolf mind. How is she supposed to compete with that? Jasper’s a high–tier wolf on top of it.”
I didn’t respond to any of it. I simply lowered my head and focused on the screen.
The noise around me gradually faded as the rhythm of coding took over.
Every so often, voices would rise from the crowd.
“Jasper’s moving fast, this looks like an easy win for him.”
“Nira might actually lose this time.”
“I don’t know, she’s pulled off miracles before.”
Time slipped by, and before anyone realized it, we both submitted our solutions almost at the same moment.
The entire auditorium went quiet. After what happened earlier, no one rushed to call the result this time.
I stogd calmly off to the side, waiting.
Twenty minutes later, Naomi finally looked up and announced, “The winner is Nira.”
The room exploded.
“No way, she won again!”
“She’s just a freshman and she beat Jasper? Give her time, she’s going to be unstoppable in this field.”
I glanced at the livestream screen, where comments were flooding in at a ridiculous speed.
[She did it again, this is insane.]
[I’m officially a fan. She’s the queen of coding.]
Barrett looked over at Jasper and asked, “Do you accept the result, or do you want us to run a live verification?”
Jasper shook his head without hesitation. “No need. I trust your judgment. I lost fair and square.”
He gave me a meaningful look, then turned his gaze toward the entrance and smiled slightly. “I knew you’d show up. Since you’re here, I won’t hold things up any longer.”
