Chapter 107 Hiding From You
Chapter 107 Hiding From You
Bobby felt a surge of irritation. “Can’t you just wait? Why do you have to push me? My mom’s sick, I can’t leave right now.”
The person on the other end said, “Isn’t your sister in Ekloland? Let her take care of your mom.”
Bobby snapped, “Don’t even bring her up! She’s nothing but an ungrateful, cold-hearted traitor!”
There was a brief pause, then the person said, “I don’t care! You have to be back by Friday. If you don’t, I’ll call your mom myself.”
“Don’t you dare,” Bobby shot back.
“Go ahead and try me. I’ve already given you more than enough time. The cooling-off period ended a week ago, didn’t it? This week, we have to get the divorce done. I can’t wait any longer,” the person snapped.
After hanging up, a wave of helplessness washed over Bobby.
‘Man, I’m exhausted, Bobby thought. ‘I just want to drop everything and walk away.
Over by the hospital bed, the medical staff were lifting Lorelei Caldwell onto the gurney, getting ready to wheel her into the operating room. Bobby just stood there, feeling too drained to even help.
He didn’t move until the doctor called him over.

After dropping Noah off at preschool, Eloise went straight to work.
Before eleven, Bobby texted her to say Lorelei was out of surgery and the operation had been a success.
Ever since Eloise stopped caring, nothing really fazed her anymore.
She just texted Bobby back: [Got it.]
Then she buried herself in her work.
By four o’clock, Eloise finally got a call from the caregiver.
“Ms. Caldwell, could you come to the hospital? I can’t handle this by myself, and the doctor said they need to talk to a family member about your mom’s condition,” the caregiver said.
Eloise frowned. “Where’s Bobby?”
“Mr. Ellsworth hasn’t been seen since noon. I thought he just stepped out for lunch, but it’s been hours and he still hasn’t shown up,” the caregiver replied.
Eloise’s frown deepened. “Did you try calling him?”
“I tried, but his phone’s off,” the caregiver replied.
Eloise was silent for a moment. “Got it.”
After hanging up with the caregiver, Eloise called Bobby, but his phone was still off.
She had no clue what Bobby was doing, so she could only call Hannah. “Grandma, you picked up Noah, right?”
“Yeah, I got him. He’s right here with me,” Hannah replied.
“Grandma, could Noah stay at Pierce Manor tonight? And could you watch him for me for the next few days? I’ Il let his preschool know he’ll be out,” Eloise said.
“No need to be so polite with me, Eloise, dear. Noah’s my great-grandson. Of course I’ll take care of him. But is something going on with you?” Hannah asked.
“There’s something up with Bobby, so I need to head to the hospital,” Eloise replied.
“Alright, just focus on what you need to do. Noah’s safe with me. If you need anything, let me know, or you can ask Grayson,” Hannah said.
“Thanks, Grandma!” Eloise said.

Chapter 107 Hiding From You
Eloise didn’t hurry to the hospital. She stayed at work until the end of the day.
Before heading out, she tried calling Bobby again, but his phone was still off.
Eloise drove to the hospital.
Lorelei was awake, but still looked frail from the surgery.
When she saw Eloise, she grumbled, “Who said you could come? Get out!”
Fresh out of surgery, Lorelei’s voice was weak and lacked any real force.
Eloise gave her a deadpan stare. “You think I actually want to be here? If you want to recover faster, stop talking so much and don’t get yourself all riled up.”
Lorelei looked around the room with a grim expression, but Bobby was nowhere to be seen. She turned to the caregiver and asked, “Where’s my son?”
The caregiver replied, “He hasn’t been seen since noon.”
Lorelei said sharply, “Impossible!”
The caregiver answered, “It’s true, Mr. Ellsworth left around noon and hasn’t returned. His phone’s been off ever since.”
Lorelei, sounding frantic, snapped, “Why are you just standing there? Call the cops already!”
The caregiver froze, not knowing what to say.
Lorelei blurted out, “My son must be in trouble! Call the police, now!”
The caregiver looked helplessly at Eloise.
Eloise replied with a chilly tone, “He’s a grown man, not some spoiled rich kid, and honestly, he’s not even that good-looking. Who’d bother kidnapping him? Most likely, he’s just sick of your nagging and went off to hide.”
“Don’t be ridiculous! Bobby would never get sick of me. He’s the most dutiful son ever, not like you, you heartless ingrate,” Lorelei snapped.
Eloise gave her a flat look. “Sure, I’m the heartless one and your son’s a saint. If you don’t want to rest, at least stop bothering everyone else. Just zip it and close your eyes.”
Lorelei was left speechless.
She was so furious she nearly choked on her own breath.
Eloise used to just put up with it, never talking back or fighting back, but now she actually dared to talk to her like this.
Lorelei was so furious she could barely breathe.
Eloise asked the caregiver to keep an eye on Lorelei while she headed to the hospital cafeteria for a quick meal. On her way back, she picked up an extra meal for the caregiver.
Lorelei shot her a glare, not the look a mother gives her daughter, but the kind you’d give your worst enemy.
Eloise just gave a slight frown, turned around, and walked out. She sat down on a chair in the hallway and started scrolling through her phone.
She hadn’t been scrolling for long when a pair of legs suddenly appeared in front of her.
Just by the shape of his legs, she could tell he was tall.
Grayson sat down next to her.
“Have you eaten yet?” he asked.
Eloise put her phone down. “Yeah, I have.”
“Hospital cafeteria?” Grayson asked.
“Yeah,” Eloise replied.
“Is that stuff even edible?” Grayson teased.

“Hey, I’ve survived your cooking before, and honestly, the cafeteria chef’s got you beat. You didn’t try to cook today, did you?” Eloise shot back.
Grayson was left speechless.
Eloise said, “Grayson, not everyone’s cut out for everything. Some things just aren’t your thing. Don’t force it. If you set foot in the kitchen again, Noemi might just hand in her resignation.”
Eloise kept trying to talk some sense into him, but when he didn’t say a word, she turned to see Grayson giving her a wounded, puppy-dog look.
“Don’t look at me like that. I’m just trying to help. Honestly, I don’t think anyone’s willing to be your guinea pig anymore,” Eloise said.
Grayson huffed and turned away, refusing to look at her.
Eloise noticed a middle-aged woman standing nearby, watching them.
“Who’s that?” Eloise asked.
“I brought her in,” Grayson replied.
