Chapter 114 I’m Annoyed

Chapter 114 I’m Annoyed

Eloise clapped a hand over her mouth.

‘Am I crazy? Why did I have to say that out loud?’ she thought, freaking out.

Great, now she’d only made things worse. Instead of calming him down, she’d just made him even more pissed.

“Grayson, you must’ve misheard me. I didn’t say anything,” Eloise said, trying to play it cool.

Grayson reached out and grabbed her by the neck. “Come clean, and maybe I’ll let you off the hook.”

Eloise swallowed hard. “Grayson, you’re kinda intense right now…”

“Try talking back again!” Grayson warned.

“It’s honestly nothing, just a little misunderstanding,” Eloise said,

“Alright, I’m listening. What kind of misunderstanding?” Grayson said,

“It’s just… just…” Eloise stammered,

“Eloise, you’ve got two choices. One, I take out Beckett. Two, I take out you,” Grayson said,

Eloise didn’t even hesitate. She picked option one.

“So, back in Ucrevine, Mr. Hayes got totally hammered one night and thought I was some other chick… I snapped and gave him a serious beatdown.

“He was so wasted, he couldn’t fight back at all. I left him looking like he’d been run over by a truck, face all bruised and swollen, a total disaster…” Eloise blurted out.

“Grayson, don’t do anything to Mr. Hayes, okay? He apologized to me after he sobered up,” Eloise pleaded.

As soon as Eloise finished, she felt Grayson’s grip on her neck get even tighter.

She coughed, trying to pull his hand away. “I already explained everything! Let me go!”

Grayson said, “That explanation doesn’t cut it for me.”

“I told you everything! That’s exactly what happened. What more do you want? Why are you so damn annoying?” Eloise snapped.

“Who are you calling annoying?” Grayson shot back, his voice cold.

“Fine, fine, I’m the annoying one, okay?!” Eloise snapped.

Eloise was on the verge of a meltdown.

Grayson was violent, petty, moody, unreasonable, and a total jerk.

His flaws were endless.

‘Why did I ever fall for him at first sight?’ Eloise wondered.

‘I must’ve been blind! Seriously, what was I thinking?’ Eloise mentally facepalmed.

Grayson glared at her, his eyes practically about to burst into flames.

But he finally let go of her, after all.

There was a sharp snap.

The crisp sound of the lighter flicking filled the car.

Grayson lit a cigarette, took a drag, and the gray smoke obscured his expression.

With his other hand, he lowered both windows.

The smoke drifted out, and Eloise’s frown finally softened.

“Grayson, when did you even learn to smoke?” Eloise asked. Grayson never used to smoke.

Grayson didn’t answer her.

After a while, he finally spoke. “Eloise, are you seriously that clueless? What Beckett did counts as workplace harassment. You didn’t report him, and you kept working for him. Should I call you naive or just stupid?”

Eloise pressed her lips together. “Grayson, not everyone gets to make choices like you.”

Back then, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and tough it out.

She didn’t have anyone to back her up, so she couldn’t just quit on a whim.

If her boss really was some creep who harassed his employees, she would’ve never tolerated it.

Luckily, Beckett wasn’t that kind of guy. Aside from that one time he acted like a jerk, and making her handle all his drama with women, he was actually a pretty decent boss.

At the time, not making a big deal out of it was the smartest move she could make.

The smoke masked the pain in Grayson’s eyes.

He stayed silent, got out of the car, and leaned against the trunk, smoking for what felt like forever before finally coming back.

Eloise left him alone and called Noah.

She and Noah talked for a good while.

Giavanna and Tessa were going toe-to-toe, neither one gaining the upper hand.

Out of nowhere, Giavanna was suddenly pulled into someone’s arms from behind.

Giavanna and Tessa completely speechless.

Tessa swallowed hard, then bolted out of the room, practically tripping over herself in her rush.

Beckett hauled Giavanna onto the bed, totally losing it. He wrapped her up in his arms, kissing her fiercely, practically devouring her as if he’d gone wild.

Giavanna frantically fought back. “Beckett, please, snap out of it! Look at me, it’s Giavanna!”

“Beckett, I’m begging you, please, just stop!” she pleaded desperately.

“Beckett, I really do like you, but I don’t want to do this with you right now. Please, somebody help me!” Giavanna cried, her voice shaking with fear.

Beckett ripped at her clothes.

Giavanna was freaking out.

‘Guess I might as well just accept it… Beckett and I are getting married anyway, so we’d end up in bed together sooner or later, she thought, finally giving up.

She stopped struggling.

Right then, a bunch of nurses and doctors rushed in and pulled her out of there.

When Tessa bolted, she left the door wide open.

The nurses and doctors pulled Beckett off her, gave him a sedative, and escorted him out of the room.

Giavanna quickly fixed her clothes and rushed after them to the hospital.

Tessa bolted out of the hotel, her heart still racing, and clapped a hand to her chest to calm herself down. When she got home, Amaya saw her with her hair all wild, clothes crooked and rumpled, several buttons missing, and her face streaked with fresh, bloody scratches.

Amaya stared in shock. “Did you get into a fight? Who did this to you?”

Tessa, still full of energy despite the mess, walked over, poured herself a glass of water, gulped it down to steady herself, and after calming down finally said, “Giavanna.”

“Giavanna? Weren’t you two teaming up to bust someone cheating? How’d you end up brawling with her?”

Amaya asked.

Tessa plopped down on the couch. “Don’t even get me started. The whole plan went up in smoke.”
