Chapter 117 You Got Off Easy

Chapter 117 You Got Off Easy

Cyrus wiped his forehead again. “I really don’t know.”

He and Amaya had been living separately for ages, each with their own place.

Tessa lived with Amaya.

Grayson let out a cold laugh. “I’ll give you five minutes to step outside and call around.”

He couldn’t be bothered to waste another word on Cyrus.

Cyrus didn’t dare waste a second. He hurried out of Grayson’s office and tried calling Tessa.

But her phone was off.

So he called Amaya instead.

Five minutes later, Cyrus came back in, drenched in sweat. He dropped to his knees in front of Grayson. “Mr. Pierce, I’m sorry. I messed up as a father. This is all on me. Please, forgive me, Mr. Pierce.

“I never thought my daughter would pull something like this. When I get home, I’ll make sure she learns her lesson the hard way.”

Grayson stood up, walked over, and looked down at him. “A beating? Cyrus, your daughter broke the law.” Cyrus wiped his forehead with his sleeve. “Mr. Pierce, I promise I’ll deal with her. Please, just spare her this

time.”

Grayson kept his hands in his pockets, his gaze cold as ice. “Cyrus, you better thank your lucky stars your idiot daughter failed. If Eloise had gotten even a scratch, Hayes Group would be finished!”

Cyrus was speechless.

He hung his head in fear.

His voice shook as he spoke. “Mr. Pierce, I’ll compensate Ms. Caldwell. Money, a house, whatever she wants, I’ Il give it to her.”

He wasn’t kneeling out of love for Tessa; he just didn’t want to get caught up in her trouble.

It wasn’t just for Tessa that he was willing to pay Eloise off.

He and his daughter were tied together, and all he could do now was try to appease Grayson.

He was just relieved nothing happened between Beckett and Eloise last night. If they really had slept together, even if he begged on his knees from here to the ends of the earth, nothing would have made a difference. No amount of compensation would have helped.

Grayson would have crushed Hayes Group just to blow off steam.

Grayson settled back into his chair, his gaze icy as he looked at Cyrus. “Forget the house. Just give her money. She needs it. Just give her as much as you can.”

Cyrus was speechless.

‘So… how much is enough?’ Cyrus thought to himself.

He tentatively asked, “3 million dollars?”

Grayson shot him a cold look. “You think my woman is only worth 3 million dollars?”

Cyrus wiped his forehead. “9 million?”

“15 million,” Grayson said.

Cyrus sucked in a breath.

Eloise came from a humble background. Even 300 thousand would be a windfall for her. He painfully raised it to 9 million, but Grayson still wasn’t satised in part Baution!

‘This is going to kill me!’ Cyrus thought.

‘How much does Hayes Group even make in a year?’ he wondered.

Grayson toyed with his lighter. “15 million, you got off easy.”

Cyrus was speechless.

He bit down hard on his lip, tears brimming in his eyes as he nodded. “Alright, 15 million.”

He told himself it was just buying his way out of trouble.

If Grayson set his sights on them, Hayes Group would be toast in a heartbeat.

Just then, Grayson spoke up again. “And let Eloise go.”

Cyrus’s gut reaction was to say no.

But then he thought about the 15 million he was about to cough up.

Eloise wasn’t some money-maker. She was a total jinx. Better to cut her loose now than keep a ticking time bomb around.

He nodded. “Alright, I’ll have the HR department handle it on Monday.”

Grayson said, “15 million. Consider it her severance package.”

Cyrus didn’t dare say a word. He just nodded in agreement.

‘Who in their right mind gives out severance like that?’ Cyrus thought.

Grayson shot him a look. “Get up.”

Cyrus finally managed to stand, clutching the edge of the table for support.

“Mr. Pierce, about the Yaiville Resort…” Cyrus began.

Grayson waved him off, clearly annoyed. “Go on, don’t waste my time with this.”

Cyrus finally breathed easy.

It was obvious. The Hayes Group’s stake in the Yaiville Resort project wasn’t going anywhere.

He turned and shuffled awkwardly toward the door.

His legs had gone completely numb from kneeling.

“Stop, Grayson snapped.

Cyrus jolted, froze, and turned around. “Is there anything else, Mr. Pierce?”

Grayson said, “Don’t let Eloise know it was my idea to fire her.”

Cyrus nodded quickly. “Rest assured, Mr. Pierce. I’ll handle it.”

He was scared out of his wits. He really thought this big shot was about to make his life even harder.

Cyrus stormed into Amaya’s villa and started yelling the moment he walked in. “Tessa’s a mess, but what about you? Are you just as clueless? I told you ages ago to stay away from Eloise. She’s Grayson’s woman.” “Did you even listen to me? Did you warn that brat? Did she lose her mind or something? Drugging Eloise is bad enough, and she even got Beckett mixed up in this?”

“Thank God it failed. If Beckett had actually slept with Eloise, Hayes Group would be toast, and Beckett would be done for too. Are you all trying to kill me or what?”

Amaya didn’t dare admit she was the mastermind. She just let Tessa go along with it.

Her relationship with Cyrus was already strained, and with their son now in a coma, she couldn’t risk Cyrus losing trust in her.

So she had no choice but to let Tessa take the fall.
