Grayson Pierce and Eloise Caldwell novel Chapter 127

Chapter 127 Neither Can I

Hannah was slipping off her shoes as she teased, Are you cooking, or did you just try to blow up the kitchen?

Noah was the first to run over and saw the mess in the kitchen. His mouth twitched in disbelief.

Eloise also walked over.

Grayson was chopping a chicken.

On the stove, on the walls, and on the ground, there were all splattered with meat and blood.

Eloise couldn’t help but pity the chicken on the cutting board, which had been chopped to oblivion.

Although it had died a long time ago, it was cruel to be treated like this after death.

Eloise glanced at the kitchen that had been cleaned up before she went out, sighed heavily, and walked over to take the knife from Grayson’s hand.

Grayson turned to look at her and said, Give me the knife. I want to make chicken soup.

Eloise was a little speechless. You chopped the chicken like this. How are you even supposed to make soup out of it now?she said.

Grayson asked, confused, Aren’t you supposed to chop the chicken for chicken soup?

Eloise shot him a look and replied, Come on, Mr. Pierce, if you couldn’t cook, just leave it to the pros, okay?

Grayson gave her a puppydog look. I’m very hungry now,” he said.

Eloise sighed and said, Just order some takeout. Chicken soup takes forever to make.

Grayson grumbled, I don’t know about it. But you’ve totally spoiled me. I can’t eat takeout anymore.

Eloise retorted, Well, so it’s all my fault?

Grayson said gently, No, it’s not your fault. It’s just my stomach’s hooked on you, and honestly, so am I.

Eloise glanced at Noah, who was standing by the door, barely holding back his laughter, then glared hard at Grayson.

Still, she couldn’t help herself. She opened the fridge and cooked something for Grayson.

Grayson couldn’t hide his smile, feeling happy.

She grabbed a rag and wiped down the walls and the stove.

Hannah came over to take a look at the kitchen and said angrily, You really know how to make a mess!

Grayson ignored her.

Hannah was too tired and went back to sleep.

Noah went upstairs to take a shower and sleep.

Eloise quickly cooked up a bowl of noodles for him and said, Go eat this outside.

Grayson took the bowl with a big smile, saying, Eloise, nobody treats me better than you.

Eloise ignored him and started tidying up the kitchen.

Grayson ate his noodles, occasionally peeking into the kitchen to check on Eloise.

Eloise finished cleaning up and came out. Something crossed her mind. She took a seat across from Grayson.

She asked, When will Camille’s case be settled?

Grayson paused midbite and looked up at her.

Eloise frowned and continued, They’re not actually letting her out, right? Grayson, don’t tell me you feel bad about her going to jail.”

Grayson hurried to explain, No. She was diagnosed with a mental illness, so they sent her to a psych hospital for treatment.

Eloise just stared at him, speechless.

She was stunned for a while and asked, Does she really have any mental illness? Have you checked? The police can’t listen to her side of the story, right?

Grayson replied, Yeah, she was checked out by professionals. Turns out Camille really does have a mental illness.”

Eloise didn’t expect Camille to have a history of mental illness.

She looked at Grayson and asked, You seriously never knew she had this illness?

Grayson shook his head, saying, I didn’t know.

He hurried to explain, afraid Eloise would misunderstand. He said, I barely knew Camille. She saved me once, but that’s about it. I never really got to know her.

Eloise, I never had any feelings for her. It’s always been you in my head, no one else.

Really? If I was all you ever thought about, how come you never bothered to find me?Eloise shot back.

Hearing this, Grayson was speechless.

He thought, ‘Way to shoot myself in the foot.

What he regretted most was those five years of thinking he was doing the right thing by holding back.

My ass!he cursed to himself.

If he hadn’t tried so hard to hold back, if he’d just gone to Ucrevine sooner, they wouldn’t have been separated for so long.

But no matter how much he said now, it was useless. He couldn’t make up for the bitterness Eloise felt toward

him.

Seeing him stay silent, Eloise, feeling a bit embarrassed, got up and went upstairs.

She didn’t pay much attention to Camille’s situation.

Even if Camille wasn’t convicted, she’d still be stuck in the mental hospital.

But whenever Eloise remembered the day Camille stabbed her with a knife, she still felt afraid.

The next day, after Grayson dropped Noah off at school, Hannah got a call from her best friend, inviting her out for a game of cards.

Eloise offered to drive her.

Hannah waved her off and said, No need, the bodyguard will be here soon to pick me up. You should get some rest. You’ve been up since dawn making breakfast. That’s hard work.

Eloise didn’t insist. After Hannah left, she began to clean up.

Hálfway through cleaning, the doorbell suddenly rang.

She walked out, puzzled, and saw an elegant, highsocietylooking woman at the door. The lady was clearly older now, but you could tell she must’ve been stunning when she was younger.

Eloise walked over, asking, Are you looking for someone?

You must be Eloise, right?the woman said.

Eloise paused, asking, Who are you?

The woman replied, I’m Grayson’s mom.”

Eloise was stunned.

Eloise only knew that Grayson’s parents were divorced. He had never mentioned his mom, Yvonne Haekin, to her, and no one in the Pierce family ever brought her up either.

Yvonne frowned and said, Are you just going to make me stand here and talk?

Eloise came back to her senses and opened the door to let her in.

After showing her in, Eloise poured a cup of coffee and set it in front of her.

Yvonne looked around the house and asked, Did Grayson give you this place?

Eloise thought for a moment and nodded. Yvonne let out a mocking laugh. He sure is generous,” she said.

Eloise could tell right away that Yvonne didn’t like her, so she didn’t say anything.

Yvonne shot Eloise a sharp look and continued, I heard you have a son?

Eloise replied, Yes.

Yvonne sneered, What makes you think Grayson would ever marry a woman like you?

Eloise’s expression turned icy. She said, I think that my son is not baggage. He’s the most important person in my world.
