When Grayson got home and saw Juliette, he paused for a second, then gave her a nod.

He took off his suit jacket, rolled up his sleeves, and went into the kitchen.

It was piled high with ingredients.

Eloise glanced over at him, saying, “It’s not really that much.

“Grayson, hand me a plate.”

Grayson picked up a plate and handed it to her. “Here.”

Eloise told him, “Grayson, take this dish to the table.”

Grayson said, “Alright.”

Juliette watched the two of them working together with such easy chemistry. She smiled slightly.

She thought, ‘Eloise keeps saying she’s not sure about this, but honestly, they’re already living together like an old married couple.

‘Still, Grayson is pretty down-to-earth. He doesn’t act like some big shot at home. He just jumps in and helps

out.

Juliette shifted her gaze away, lowering her eyes to her phone, where her conversation with Colton was still

Just then, the doorbell rang.

Noah said, “Juliette, you stay here. I’ll get it.”

Before anyone could stop him, Noah had already opened the door and gone out.

It was freezing out there, and Juliette barely had time to call out for him to put on a coat. He was gone like a shot.

It wasn’t long before two tall men went in through the doorway.

Juliette instantly recognized one of them. She was intimately familiar with him, in more ways than one.

Rhys had Noah in his arms.

Noah had met him before, but wasn’t close to Rhys, and was trying to wriggle free.

Rhys said, “Why are you struggling? Come on, let me hold you.”

Noah struggled for a bit, but when he realized he couldn’t get away, he finally gave up.

Colton’s gaze flickered when he saw Juliette, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes.

Rhys, seeing them act like total strangers, joked, “I introduce you two?”

They didn’t say a word.

Rhys added, “Ms. Reed, this is my buddy, Colton. Everyone calls him Colton. Pretty sure you’ve met him before.”

Juliette gave him a speechless look.

Colton nudged Rhys in the shin and said, “Do you have to stick your nose in everywhere?”

Rhys made a face, saying, “Alright, I’ll stay out of it. You two go ahead and talk.”

Rhys sat down on the carpet with Noah and helped him put together some Lego blocks.

Colton took a seat right next to Juliette, leaving a hand’s width between them. If either of them shifted, their clothes would easily brush together.

Juliette said calmly, “What are the odds? I didn’t expect you guys to drop by. Did Grayson invite you?”

Colton stayed silent.

They showed up without an invitation.

Juliette got the gist of what was happening.

She said, “Showing up uninvited and empty-handed? That’s kind of bold, don’t you think?”

Eloise added, “Looks like we’ve got two extra guests, let’s make a couple more dishes.”

Grayson didn’t say anything, just helped her quietly.

After a while, dinner was ready, and everyone took their seats.

Grayson and Eloise sat side by side, with Noah next to Eloise.

Rhys pushed Colton to sit next to Juliette, then took the seat at the end himself.

Colton sat down and glanced at Juliette quickly.

Juliette kept her head down, scrolling through her phone, not even looking at him.

Everyone could tell there was something different about Juliette and Colton.

Eloise gave Juliette a thoughtful glance.

Since Grayson had given up drinking, there wasn’t any alcohol in their place.

He used to have plenty stocked up at his old house, but none of it made it to the new house.

Everyone stuck to juice and dug into their food.

Rhys said with a smile, “Ms. Caldwell, your cooking is seriously amazing!”

Eloise replied warmly, “Glad you like it. Feel free to come by more often.”

“Really? Can we come over whenever we want?” Rhys asked, his eyes lighting up.

Eloise smiled, saying, “Of course.”

Rhys caught Grayson shooting him a frosty look, so he shrank back a little, let out a couple of nervous laughs. and kept quiet.

Grayson took some soup and set it in front of Eloise, saying, “Here, have some soup to warm you up.”

Eloise took it and had a few sips with her spoon.

Colton took a bowl of soup for Juliette as well, but she didn’t touch it.

He frowned slightly and pushed the bowl a little closer to her.

Juliette moved the bowl off to the side.

The room went quiet, everyone feeling the awkward tension.

They thought, ‘Did they just have a fight?’
