Chapter 150

Leo felt incredibly awkward.

Standing over there were his son, his grandson, and the woman who’d probably be his daughter-in-law someday.

He never thought he’d still run into something like this at his

age.

He cleared his throat and asked, “Where are you all headed?”

Eloise was the first to snap out of it and replied, “We’re going to grab a bite.”

Noah ran over and grabbed Leo’s hand. “Grandpa, are you coming with us?”

He was smart, but he still didn’t really get what had just happened.

Leo smiled kindly. “I’ll pass. I need to go home and have dinner with your great-grandma. She gets grumpy if she eats alone.”

Yvonne was feeling pretty awkward too.

“Grayson…” she called out softly.

Grayson turned his head away, refusing to look at her or say a word.

Yvonne looked hurt as she picked up her bag and left VirtuFusion Group.

Leo let out a sigh of relief and tried to explain, feeling embarrassed, “Grayson, I…”

Grayson cut him off. “Is that really why you never got married? Were you just waiting for her?”

“Of course not! I just think being single is fine, and with work keeping me so busy, I never had the time to even think about it,” Leo replied.

Grayson asked, “Are you ever gonna get back with her?”

Leo shot back, “Absolutely not!”

He’d have to be out of his mind to get back with Yvonne.

‘Yvonne’s nuts. Seriously, what was she thinking, wanting to get back together with me?”

Grayson got the answer he wanted, then led Eloise and Noah away.

After getting in the car, Grayson drove while Eloise sat up front.

She glanced at Grayson, but with Noah in the backseat, she kept quiet.

The three of them grabbed some food, then went home together.

Noah had Eloise read two picture books with him.

When she was about to leave, Noah grabbed her hand. “Mommy, now that Daddy’s here, do you not love me as much anymore?”

Eloise was taken aback, then smiled and sat down, gently rubbing his little face. “Why would you think that?”

Noah said, “Ever since Daddy moved in, I hardly get to see you. He’s always keeping you to himself. Do you love Daddy more now?”

Eloise couldn’t help but laugh. Her little boy was actually competing for her affection.

“Don’t worry, honey. Mommy loves you the most,” she reassured him.

“Really? More than Daddy?” Noah asked, his eyes wide.

“Of course. You’re Mommy’s most precious sweetheart,” Eloise replied, giving him a big hug.

“Mommy, I love you the most too,” Noah said, snuggling up to her.

“Go to sleep,” Eloise said softly.

“Goodnight, Mommy,” Noah whispered.

“Goodnight, sweetheart,” Eloise replied, giving him a gentle kiss on the forehead.

Eloise opened the door and stepped out.

She spotted Grayson standing in the doorway, giving her a dangerous look.

Eloise instinctively shrank back. “What are you doing?”

Grayson moved in closer, running his fingers along her slender neck.

Just when Eloise thought he was about to choke her, Grayson suddenly wrapped his arm around her shoulders instead.

“Nothing. Come on, let’s go back to bed,” he said.

Eloise gave him a wary look.

Once they were back in the master bedroom and the door was shut, Grayson dropped the act and pinned her against the door.

“So Noah’s your favorite, huh?” Grayson teased, his voice low.

Eloise blinked. “You heard that?”

“Yeah, I heard you. You said Noah’s your favorite little guy,” Grayson teased, his voice low.

“Of course. He’s my own flesh and blood. Of course he’s my little darling,” Eloise replied.

“Here you go, sweetheart. Mommy’s full, you eat this,” she said softly.

“Thanks, Mommy! You love me the most!” Noah said, grinning from ear to ear.

He shot Grayson a triumphant look, then dug into his omelet, looking totally satisfied.

Grayson scoffed. “Man, a boy always talking about love? That’s so embarrassing!”

Noah shot back, “Mommy says if you love someone, you should say it out loud. See, you just don’t understand.”

Grayson scoffed again.

Eloise gave him a look that said, ‘Enough already.’

‘Seriously, how old is he? Competing with his own kid for my attention every day,’ she thought, rolling her

eyes.

After breakfast, Grayson headed to the office, dropping Noah off at preschool on the way.

Eloise was about to keep cleaning up the sunroom when her phone buzzed. It was Bobby calling.

“Hey, Eloise, Mom’s not feeling well. I just started this new job and things are crazy busy.”

“I really can’t get away right now. Could you take her to the hospital for a check-up?” Bobby asked.

Eloise hesitated for a moment, then said yes.

“Send me the address. I’ll go pick her up,” she said.

Bobby hung up and sent her the address.

It was an apartment complex.

It looked like they ended up renting a place.

Staying in hotels all the time costed a fortune. No way Bobby could afford that on his salary.

His paycheck barely covered the bills. Lorelei was the one who paid for his wedding house and even covered the bride price for his marriage.

Eloise knew Lorelei was loaded. She’d accidentally seen her bank balance once, and it was in the millions.

She even bought Bobby’s wedding house outright, no mortgage at all.

Lorelei hadn’t worked a day in years, and Eloise had no clue where all that money came from.
