Chapter 152
Tripp wore his hair in a small ponytail, a bit greasy, with tanned skin. He was dressed in a black hoodie, looking laid-back and casual, not at all like someone in his forties.
Eloise echoed Grayson and called out, “Uncle Tripp.”
Tripp pulled out two envelopes, handing one to Eloise and the other to Noah.
“K’s our first time meeting, and I wasn’t sure what to get you, so I just put some cash in these envelopes. Buy whatever you like,” Tripp said.
Eloise gave the envelope a little shake, found it light, and tucked it away.
Thanks, Unde Tripp Eloise said.
Noah chimed in. Thanks, Grandpa Tripp”
Tripp grinned and scooped Noah up for a hug
What a fair and chubby hule guy. You’re absolutely adorable! Tripp said.
Hannah said, “That’s right My great-grandson is such a handsome boy. He’s clearly a Pierce. But you, when you first walked in, I honestly thought some random guy from Averoca had wandered into my house. You scared me so much that I almost threw you out?”
Tripp just wared, lout for words.
“Mom, I just got back. Can you cut me some slack? Tripp said.
Hannah jour pursed her lips and didn’t say anything else.
Noah found the envelope a bit heavy, and after holding it for a while, his hand started to ache. He wriggled oor of Tripp’s arms and ran over to Eloise. “Mom, can you hold this for me?”
Boise took the envelope from him.
Wow, this thing is heavy. There’s got to be a ton of cash in here, Eloise thought.
Bet since it was Tripp’s way of showing he cared, she kept quiet and tucked the envelope away in her purse.
The Pierce family was all super cavyzÁZ
Sven Christina was acting different today. She wasn’t throwing shade anymore. Eloise couldn’t tell if it was becane shed ween the paternity test for Noah and Grayson, or if Grayson had just intimidated her.
The wide Pierce Semilly was in high spirits, and even Hannah’s push for Tripp to settle down was all in good
Tripp pulled away face. “Mom, you’ve already got a great-grandson. Does it even matter if I get married?”

Hannah shot back, “Of course it matters! Are you really planning to stay single forever?”

Tripp rubbed his nose. “I’m in my forties already. Who’d even want to marry me? Can we not make a fuss
about it?”
Hannah said, “No young, single girl is going to marry you. Let’s not be picky. Just settle for someone divorced.”
Tripp just stared, lost for words.
With all the younger ones laughing at him, Tripp felt too embarrassed to save face and quickly retreated to
his room.
Grayson glanced over and saw Joslyn chatting Eloise’s ear off.
Grayson thought, Joslyn was now trying to rope his girl into going to a concert.
“Hey, Eloise, I’m going to a concert in a couple of days. Come with me!” Joslyn said.
Eloise took a bite of her apple. “I don’t think so.”
“Come on, it’ll be a blast! You have to come!” Joslyn urged.
Eloise frowned, looking conflicted.
She was such a pushover. If Joslyn kept pestering her, she’d probably give in.
Grayson walked over, took her by the hand, and gave Joslyn a pointed look. “She’s not going.”
Joslyn pouted. “Grayson, Eloise isn’t working right now. Let her go out and enjoy herself! Don’t be so controlling and make decisions for her.”
Grayson turned to Eloise. “Am I being controlling?”
Eloise nibbled her apple and gave a little nod.
Grayson was stunned.
After a moment, he said, “You decide. Do you want to go or not?”
Joslyn jumped up. “Eloise, come on, you have to go!”
Eloise shot Grayson a look, then stubbornly said, “I’m going.”
“Awesome!” Joslyn cheered.
“Eloise, I’ll get your ticket. We’ll go together,” Joslyn said.
“Okay, just send me the price and I’ll transfer it to you,” Eloise replied.
“No need, Grayson will cover it for me,” Joslyn said.

“Grayson…” Joslyn called, staring right at him.
Grayson gave her an icy glare.
Joslyn pulled back a bit. “Never mind, the tickets aren’t that pricey. I’ll cover Eloise’s ticket.”
Eloise kept quiet, but she was already planning to slip Joslyn the money for the ticket later.

Once she was back home, Eloise took a shower, settled onto her bed, and pulled out the two envelopes from Tripp, opening them one by one.
Noah’s envelope held a fat wad of bills.
In hers, there was a bank card, with the PIN scribbled on a slip of paper.
Eloise was floored.
When Grayson came out of the shower, Eloise grabbed his arm, sounding anxious. “Uncle Tripp gave me a bank card!”
Grayson didn’t look surprised at all. “If he gave it to you, just keep it.”
“How much do you think is in there?” Eloise asked.
“No idea. But I’d guess at least three million dollars,” Grayson replied.
Eloise just froze.
She tried to hand the card back to Grayson. “That’s way too much! I can’t take it!”
If she’d known it was a bank card, she would’ve never taken it, no matter what.
Grayson took her hand and put the card right back in her palm. “Just keep it. For Uncle Tripp, three million is pocket change. Don’t worry about it. Spend it however you like.”
Eloise said, “Three million isn’t a lot? Uncle Tripp’s just a photographer, always out there hustling, braving the elements just to make a living. I can’t accept it.”
Grayson burst out laughing.
“Eloise, Uncle Tripp does photography because he loves it, not because he needs the money. As a Pierce, he owns shares in the company and gets millions in dividends every year. Just because he looks scruffy doesn’t mean he’s poor. He’s got plenty. Three million dollars is pocket change for him,” Grayson explained.
Eloise just froze.
She really had no clue.
Grayson said, “This is just a little something for meeting you. When we actually tie the knot, everyone will

give you proper wedding gifts.”
Eloise was stunned again.
She held the bank card, sighing. “Grayson, being with you, three million feels like nothing, almost like a hundred bucks.”
Grayson ruffled her hair.
“You’ll get used to it,” he said.
Eloise looked up at him. “I’m just broke. I don’t think I ever could.”
Grayson chuckled. “It’s fine. Take your time. We’ve got all the time in the world.”
If he could turn back time, he would’ve told Eloise about his real background five years ago, so she could’ve started getting used to it right from the start.
But if Eloise had known who he really was from the beginning, she never would’ve chased after him.
No big deal. He’d just be the one making the first move.
Eloise was still stunned. She’d suddenly found herself at least three million richer, according to Grayson. She figured she’d have to check at the bank tomorrow just to be sure.
Lying in bed, she was so anxious she couldn’t sleep, tossing and turning. Eventually, Grayson rolled over and pressed her down. “Eloise, you’re keeping me awake. Looks like you need a little punishment.”
Eloise was surprised.
After their late-night workout, she finally fell asleep.
