Chapter 160
Harvey left with a sour look on his face, but he didn’t say a word.
Eloise was quiet for a moment, then turned to Grayson and asked, “Why are you back today?”
Grayson’s voice softened. “I missed you.”

Eloise’s eyes sparkled with a smile. “Don’t tell me you dumped all your work on Finn and ran back here again?”
Grayson rubbed her fingers gently. “There was some trouble with work over there, and it couldn’t be sorted out right away, so I figured I’d come back for now.”
“Is it tricky?” Eloise asked.
“It’s manageable. But I’ll need to head back once more before the New Year,” Grayson replied.
Eloise nodded to show she got it.
She grabbed Grayson’s wrist and glanced at his watch. “Oh no, I totally forgot to pick up
Noah.”
Harvey had totally thrown her off, and she’d lost track of time.
Grayson took her hand. “Let’s go together.”
Grayson drove, and the two of them headed to the school.
“Eloise, if you’re feeling upset, just let me know. Don’t keep it all to yourself,” Grayson said.
He freed one hand and reached over to take hers.
Eloise turned to look at him. “A little bit.”
“Grayson, do you think maybe I was a terrible person? Did I do so many awful things that I ended up with parents like this?” Eloise asked.
Lorelei never cared about her, and all Harvey ever wanted was to use her.
Luckily, she’d never really hoped for a father’s love. Otherwise, having a dad like Harvey would’ve broken her heart even more.
Grayson’s chest tightened painfully for a second.
“Eloise, none of this is on you. Not every parent loves their kid, you know? You were just unlucky,” Grayson said gently.
“But bad luck doesn’t last forever. You’ve got me, Noah, and my grandma and dad. They all adore you. From now on, you’ll be surrounded by love,” he promised.

“Grayson, you are so mushy,” Eloise teased.
Her eyes welled up, and she turned away, one tear dropping onto the black leather seat.
Grayson pulled her hand to his lips. “If you’re crying because you’re happy or moved, that’s fine. But if you’re crying out of sadness, I won’t allow it.”
Eloise wiped her tears and shot him a glare. “You even want to control when I cry?”
Grayson grinned. “Yeah, that’s right. With me, I want you to be happy and loved every single day.”
“You’re being mushy again!” Eloise teased.
Grayson replied with a smile, “But you like it, don’t you?”
Eloise answered with a stuffy nose and a little smile, “Yeah, I do.”
“That’s all I need. I’ll make sure your days are full of sweetness,” Grayson said.
Eloise couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
“Grayson, everyone thinks you’re cold and ruthless, impossible to talk to. No one would believe Mr. Pierce is such a softie in private,” Eloise teased.
Seeing her laugh, Grayson’s lips curled into a smile. “My soft side is just for you.”
Eloise gave his hand a playful shake. “You better keep your word. If I ever catch you smiling at another woman or being soft with anyone else, you’re dead meat.”
“Relax, I value my life too much,” Grayson replied with a grin.
They kept chatting, just shooting the breeze.
Harvey crossed Eloise’s mind.
“Grayson, Harvey may be my biological father, but I have zero feelings for him. If he ever comes to you asking for anything or tries to get you to invest in him, you don’t have to bother with him,” Eloise said.
Grayson replied, “Everything I have belongs to you. If you say no, he gets nothing.”
Eloise just treated it as sweet talk and smiled.
She didn’t really think everything Grayson had was hers.
Some things were just nice to hear. There was no need to take them too seriously.
She had her own place and over three million dollars in savings. The last time she checked, her uncle had put
six million dollars into her account.
She was a millionaire now. Even if she never worked another day in her life, she could live comfortably.

She wasn’t into luxury stuff anyway, so with twenty million dollars, she’d never run out of money.
So, she didn’t care about Grayson’s money at all.
She only cared about Grayson himself.
When they got to the school, there weren’t any parents waiting outside anymore.
Eloise called the teacher, and a few minutes later, the teacher walked Noah out.
Eloise thanked the teacher and hopped in the car with Noah.
“Sorry, sweetheart, something came up and I was late. Were you worried?” Eloise asked.
Noah was buckled up in his car seat. “It’s okay, Mom. I just read a book for a while, and time flew by.”
Eloise couldn’t help but smile.
Her son was just the sweetest.
Noah glanced at Grayson.
His father was finally home from his trip.
Not that Noah’d ever admit it, but he kind of missed his father. Just a tiny bit.
Grayson caught Noah’s eye in the rearview mirror, and for a couple of seconds, the father and son just shared a look.
Back home.
Eloise headed to the kitchen to start cooking, with Grayson right there to help out.
Noah was busy building a Lego car. It was a pretty complicated set, so he was totally absorbed, working on it for ages.
Noah glanced up at the kitchen and saw his father leaning in close, saying something to his mother. She laughed and gave him a playful smack.
Noah shook his head and went right back to working on his Lego car.
When Vivian found out Harvey had gone to see Eloise, she completely lost it and started yelling at him.
“Harvey, what is this supposed to mean? Are you just done with this family now? If you want a divorce, just say it! So you can go marry Lorelei, and bring her and that brat back here?” Vivian snapped.
Harvey replied, “I’m not trying to divorce you. Don’t overthink it.”
“Oh, I’m overthinking it? You went to see that bastard. How else am I supposed to take it?” Vivian shot back.

“Stop calling her a bastard. Eloise is my daughter too,” Harvey snapped.
That was like throwing gasoline on a fire Vivian only got angrier.
She lunged at Harvey and went at him with her nails again.
