Chapter 161 I’m Not Fighting Myself

Harvey frowned. “Can you grab an antiseptic swab and clean up my face? I got scratched. How am I supposed to face anyone tomorrow?”

“Serves you right!”

Even though she said that, Vivian still went to fetch an antiseptic swab and sat down beside Harvey to take care of his wound.

“Go easy, that hurts,” Harvey grumbled.

Vivian slowed her hands.

“Babe, could you stop scratching my face? Last time I went to work, everyone was staring at me. When I look bad, it reflects on you too,” Harvey said.

Vivian paused. “Okay.”

Harvey brought up Eloise again.

“Eloise just found out I’m her dad, so we’re basically strangers right now. It’s no surprise she didn’t agree right away. I’ll invite her out for a meal or two in the next couple of days. Once we get to know each other, she’ll probably be more willing to help,” he said.

Vivian replied, “Fine, but don’t you dare give her any money. All our money is for Dustin and Chloe.”

“I know, I know who’s really family to me,” Harvey said.

“Just keep that in mind. If I ever catch you giving her anything at all, it’s over between us,” Vivian warned.

Harvey silently complained to himself. Marrying a tigress like her made life really hard.

After Grayson finished his shower, Eloise sent him off to Noah’s room to read him a picture book.

Grayson walked into Noah’s room, grabbed a random book, and handed it to him. “Read.”

Noah glanced up at him, took the book, and started reading.

Grayson sat down on Noah’s little bed, watching his tiny son.

Noah was not even five yet, and his voice still had that soft, babyish tone.

Once Noah finished the story, he shut the book.

Grayson stood up and ruffled Noah’s hair. “Nice job. Time to sleep.”

Noah crawled into bed and pulled the covers up.

“Goodnight, Dad,” Noah said.

Grayson was about to head out, but when he heard Noah say goodnight, he turned back and tucked his little feet in under the blanket.

“Goodnight.”

He turned off the light and walked out.

Noah closed his eyes, gave a quiet little smile, and then cheekily kicked his feet out from under the blanket again.

When Grayson got back to the master bedroom, Eloise was already out of the shower, propped up against the headboard. The soft light made her skin look all rosy and delicate.

Honestly, no one would ever guess she was the mother of a four-year-old boy. She looked just like a college girl fresh out of school.

She looked up, a faint dimple showing at the corner of her mouth.

“All done reading?” she asked.

Yeah, Grayson replied.

“Grayson, you should spend more time with Noah and really step up as a dad. He loves having you as his father, Eloise said.

‘Am I not doing enough as a dad?” Grayson asked.

“What do you think?” Eloise shot back.

“Alright, I’ll work on it,” Grayson replied.

Eloise nodded, pleased.

‘Time for bed,” she said.

Eloise switched off her bedside lamp and lay down.

Grayson walked over and turned off his own lamp.

In the darkness, Eloise felt the mattress sink as Grayson settled in beside her. Then his hand reached out, pulling her into his arms, pressing her against his hot embrace.

“Honey…”

His warm lips found hers.

Eloise hooked her arms around his neck, pulling him closer as she kissed him back.

After a passionate, lingering kiss, Grayson was about to go further when Eloise stopped him. “Grayson, I’m on my period.”

Grayson was at a loss for words.

He groaned, “How many days is it gonna last?”

“About two days,” Eloise replied.

Grayson lingered, kissing her for a while before finally getting up and heading to the bathroom.

Eloise let out a laugh.

Juliette was bored out of her mind, glued to her phone as she chatted with Eloise.

When she found out Eloise’s real father was Harvey, she couldn’t help but blurt out, “Holy crap!”

Colton looked up at her, confused.

Juliette noticed his look and quickly said, “Sorry.”

Then she went right back to chatting with Eloise.

[So, you, Dustin, and Chloe are half-siblings, right?]

[Yeah, it’s pretty wild, huh? I never expected Lorelei to actually be the other woman.]

[Setting everything else aside, your mom is seriously beautiful. She’s the kind of woman guys just can’t help but be drawn to.]

Juliette had met Lorelei once.

[Is this really tough for you?]

Eloise: [It was tough at first, but now I’m totally over it. Whatever dumb stuff Lorelei did, that’s her problem, not mine. I’m not stressing about it.]

[Exactly, we don’t do that overthinking stuff. So, why’s your dad suddenly popping up now? You said he always knew you were his daughter, but never bothered to find you. What’s he after now?]

[He needs Grayson to invest in his business.]

[Wow! Has he got any shame? Just ignore him. He never took care of you, and now he wants to use you? Tell him to get lost!]

[Not a chance I’m dealing with him.]

[Yeah, don’t go soft!]

Colton glanced at his watch. Juliette was still across from him, totally absorbed in her phone, chatting nonstop.

He got up, walked over, and playfully snatched her phone away. “Come on, time to eat.”

Juliette checked the time. They were already half an hour late for dinner.

She quickly shot Eloise a message: [Eloise, I’m leaving now. I’ll come find you after work.]

She stuffed her phone into her bag and looked up at Colton. “You go ahead, I’ll catch up with you in a bit.”

Colton looked a little annoyed. “We’re in a real relationship. Why are we sneaking around like we’re hiding something?”

Juliette replied, “I don’t want to go public yet.”

She really didn’t want Colton’s parents to find out and call her in for a talk this soon.

“Go on, be a good boy and wait for me in the car,” she said.

Colton had no choice but to leave, knowing there was no way to change her mind.

Juliette waited another five minutes before heading downstairs.

Luckily, everyone was out for lunch, so she had the elevator all to herself.

When she got to the underground garage, she looked over her shoulder; making sure the coast was clear, then bolted straight for Colton’s car.
