Chapter 60 She’s More Than Worthy
Camille poured her heart out in one breath, her eyes shining with hope as she looked at Grayson.
But Grayson’s gaze was completely calm, his face showed no emotion. It was as if her confession had nothing to do with him at all.
His cold stare scraped at Camille’s heart, leaving her aching inside. “Grayson, I really love you. all my heart,” she said.
“Camille, that’s out of line,” Grayson cut her off coldly.
“Will you accept me?” Camille begged, her voice trembling.
“I have a girlfriend,” Grayson replied flatly.
I love you

“She doesn’t even know how lucky she is. She’s not worthy of you,” Camille spat out, jealousy dripping from every word.
‘Seriously? She expects Grayson to chase after her?’ Camille fumed inwardly.
Grayson’s demeanor turned ice-cold. “She’s more than worthy. Camille, this is your final warning. Know your place. No one has the right to question her.”
Camille bit down on her lip, hard enough to draw blood. She couldn’t believe Grayson would defend Eloise so fiercely.
Grayson didn’t stick around. He just walked out of the ward, leaving Camille in the cold. There was no doubt that Grayson had chosen Eloise. But Camille wasn’t about to give up. In the quiet hospital room, Camille punched the bed, trying to vent her frustration.
Just then, her phone started ringing. When she saw the caller ID, her mood got even worse.
The phone kept buzzing, pausing for a moment before going off again. Camille reluctantly picked up. “What do you want?” she asked.
The voice on the other end sharpened instantly. “Is that how you talk to your own mother? Ungrateful brat. Your attitude’s getting worse, you think you’re so grown up now…”
“Cut the crap and get to the point,” Camille cut her mom off.
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line. “I’m out of cash. Wire me some money.”
Camille’s anger soared. “Money again. Is that all you ever call me for?”
Camille’s mom, Vivian Rivera, shot back, “I raised you, so what’s wrong with you giving me a little cash? Your dad and I don’t have any income. Of course we have to rely on you to keep us afloat.
“I heard you got a job at VirtuFusion Group after coming back. That’s a huge company, so your salary must be pretty good. What’s the big deal about giving us a little to spend?”
Camille snapped, “Yeah, I work at VirtuFusion Group, but I’m just a nobody. My salary’s nothing to brag about, and I still have to pay rent.”
“Then just ask your boss for some money. Didn’t you save his life?” Vivian pressed.
Camille sighed. She felt totally helpless dealing with her lazy, leech-like parents who treated her like their personal ATM.
All these years, she’d pinched every penny, only to end up handing it all over to her family anyway. “Are you insane? There is no way I’m going to him for money,” Camille shot back.
Trying to keep a good image in front of Grayson, she never asked him for money herself; for the past two years, the only money she got from him was what he arranged to be sent to her regularly.
Vivian scoffed, “You’re too proud to beg. Listen to me, money is the only thing that matters. You should’ve grabbed the chance to milk the Pierce farmilf for a

“You should’ve done it ages ago, but no, you just had to run off and study abroad. Seriously, what were you thinking?”
Camille snapped, “You don’t get it. Stop making things harder for me.”
Her real goal was to marry into the Pierce family. Once she married Grayson, money would never be an issue. She’d have free rein over his cash.
Vivian said, “I’m not in the mood to argue with you. Just wire me the money.”
Camille said, “I don’t have money right now. You’ll have to wait until I get paid next month.”
“Next month? Are you trying to starve your dad and me?” Vivian yelled.
“If you two would stop gambling all the time, you wouldn’t be starving,” Camille shot back.
“I don’t care. You better send the money today. If you don’t, we’re going to Ekloland tomorrow, and I’ll march right up to your boss and ask him for it myself,” Vivian snapped.
Camille gritted her teeth. Her mom was actually blackmailing her. The last thing she needed was for Grayson to ever find out what her family was really like.
In the end, she gave in. “Fine, I’ll send you 2 thousand. That’s literally all I’ve got right now.”

Eloise arrived at the office early on Monday. There was a morning meeting, and she needed to go over the agenda one more time before reporting to Beckett.
Beckett showed up at the office at 8:50.
Eloise knocked on the door, her heels clicking on the floor as she walked into the office. She placed a stack of documents on Beckett’s desk. “Mr. Hayes, here are the files you’ll need for the meeting.”
Beckett glanced up at her. “Ms. Caldwell, could you make me a cup of coffee?”
“Sure thing, Mr. Hayes,” Eloise replied and walked out of the office.
Beckett watched her leave, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that Eloise was pulling away from him lately.
A few minutes later, Eloise came back with the coffee. “Your coffee, Mr. Hayes.” Then she turned to leave.
Beckett called her back, “Ms. Caldwell.”
Eloise paused, “Anything else, Mr. Hayes?”
Beckett looked at her for a moment, then finally said, “No, that’s all. You can go.”
The meeting kicked off right at 9 AM. This time, Eloise brought Felice with her. Beckett glanced over and frowned.
The meeting ended just as lunchtime rolled around. Eloise quickly sorted out the meeting notes and headed downstairs for lunch.
There was a new pizza place downstairs. She was thinking about giving it a try, but it was packed, and she really didn’t like crowds, so she ended up heading to the salad bar next door instead.
She’d just ordered when someone slid into the seat across from her. She looked up. It was Beckett.
“Mr. Hayes, you’re here too?” Eloise said, a little surprised.
“Never been here before. Thought I’d check it out,” Beckett said casually. “Got any recommendations?”
Eloise glanced at the menu, then pointed. “This one’s not bad.”
“Cool, I’ll try that,” Beckett replied. He pulled out his phone and scanned the QR code to place his order.
Eloise had chosen a small table, and with both of them squeezed in, it was a tight fit.
Eloise couldn’t help feeling a little uncomfortable. Once she realized Beckett was serious about confessing his feelings, she found it hard to face him now.
Beckett finally broke the silence. “Eloise, are you still mad about what happened last Friday? I messed up. I’m

sorry.”
Eloise looked up. “I’m not upset. You don’t need to apologize.”
“Really?” Beckett asked, searching her face.
“You’re my boss, it’s not your job to worry about my feelings,” Eloise replied.
“You really think I’m that heartless? And anyway, you’re not just an employee to me,” Beckett said.
