Grayson Pierce and Eloise Caldwell novel Chapter 63

Chapter 63 A Big Secret About Eloise

Beckett nearly ground his teeth to dust. ‘Yeah, I’m just a bastard son. How could I ever compare to someone like Grayson, the golden boy?’ he thought bitterly.

He’d always had to watch his every word and move, constantly targeted by Taylor and Amaya Hayes, Cyrus’s wife.

To survive, he’d had to hide his true self, letting everyone think he was just a spoiled playboy who’d been ruined by privilege.

Only when Amaya and her kids finally let their guard down could he make it this far from Ucrevine.

But Beckett didn’t want to spend his whole life trapped in someone else’s shadow, merely going through the motions, lost and powerless.

Now that a real chance to change his life had finally come, he was definitely grabbing it with both hands. No way he’d let it slip by.

Eloise was more than just someone to Beckett. She was special in a way no one else was.

For the past two years, having Eloise around had been what helped him get through the rough days. Every time he saw her, it was like his whole mood turned around.

But when he found out Eloise’s son was Grayson’s, and that the two of them had been together five years ago, jealousy nearly ate him alive. He couldn’t bear the idea of Grayson taking Eloise away from him.

Beckett was selfish. He wanted to keep Eloise close, no matter how impossible it seemed for them to actually be together.

Beckett taunted, “Mr. Pierce, no matter how many advantages you think you’ve got, it won’t mean a damn thing if Eloise doesn’t choose you.

“We’re together every day, and that puts me ahead of you. Once I take control of Hayes Group, I’m going to make her my wife.”

Grayson grabbing Beckett by the collar. “Beckett, I’m warning you. Don’t push your luck. I’m not exactly known for my patience.”

Beckett met his gaze, a smirk tugging at his lips. “Mr. Pierce, bet you don’t know the big secret I know about Eloise.”

Grayson narrowed his eyes, fixing his gaze on Beckett.

Beckett smirked and said, “Want to know? Too bad. Eloise made me promise to keep it under wraps, so I can’t tell you.”

Without warning, Grayson threw a punch that knocked Beckett to the floor.

“Grayson. What the hell are you doing?” Eloise yelled, then rushed over.

She helped Beckett to his feet. “Mr. Hayes, are you okay? Let me take you to the hospital.”

Beckett wiped the blood from his mouth and said, “No need.”

Before Eloise could even get a word out, Grayson lost his cool first, yanking her away with a stormy look.

Grayson shoved Eloise into his car, slammed the doors shut, and pressed her into the back seat, his eyes burning with fury. “What secret are you hiding with Beckett?”

Eloise had no idea what he was talking about and tried to break free. “Let me go.

Grayson looked down at Eloise, who was pinned beneath him. Her face was flushed, her eyes blazing with anger, and her lips were so vivid and tempting he couldn’t help but want to get closer.

“Eloise, what are you hiding from me?” he demanded.

Eloise’s gaze flickered. That look told Grayson she was definitely keeping something from him,

said, his voice low and dangerous.

“Grayson, you’re not thinking straight right now. I can’t talk to you like this,” Eloise shot back.

“So you can tell Beckett, huh? You two really are that close?” Grayson said, jealousy clear in his voice.

“Grayson, quit making a scene. Let me go. I need to get to work,” Eloise snapped.

“Work? You’re not going anywhere near Beckett’s place ever again,” Grayson barked.

“What’s wrong with you?” Eloise snapped.

“Maybe I am crazy, but it’s all because of you,” Grayson shot back.

“I made you crazy? Can you just try being reasonable for once?” Eloise retorted.

“No, I can’t. I can’t be reasonable with you,” Grayson said.

Eloise was so furious she tried everything: pushing, kicking, even swinging her fists at him.

Grayson suddenly let out a low grunt. “Stop moving.”

But Eloise wouldn’t listen. The thought of Grayson having a girlfriend and still pinning her down in the car made her whole body recoil in protest.

“Eloise, you brought this on yourself,” Grayson said, then pressed a kiss to her lips.

A muffled cry escaped Eloise. His intense masculine scent mixed with her breath, making her skin tingle with heat.

Once the shock wore off, Eloise struggled fiercely, desperate to break free.

Grayson hadn’t expected her to push him away so fiercely. She’d never reacted to his kiss like this before. He backed off a bit, and when he saw tears streaming down Eloise’s face, his chest tightened painfully.

He gently wiped her tears away. “Do you really hate being with me that much?”

Eloise’s tears just kept pouring out.

Grayson’s hands were wet with her tears. With a sigh, he grabbed some tissues and started wiping her face.

“Seriously, stop crying. I kissed you. It’s not like I did anything terrible,” he said.

Eloise glared at him, her tear-streaked eyes wide and shining, her nose pink from crying.

“Is there something even worse than that? Grayson, you’re way out of line. You have a girlfriend. How can you kiss me? Sure, you’re rich, but I’m not about to come between you and someone else,” Eloise snapped.

Grayson was stunned for a second. “When did I ever have a girlfriend?” he said, baffled.

“Isn’t Camille your girlfriend?” Eloise retorted.

Grayson laughed. “I told you already, didn’t I? There’s nothing between me and her.”

“Liar. You’re such a liar,” Eloise snapped. She shoved him away, sat up, and grabbed some tissues to wipe her face.

Grayson sighed. “I’m not lying to you. Who told you Camille is my girlfriend? Ask around if you want. There’s really nothing going on between us.”

Eloise huffed, pressing herself against the car door. “Liar. Even the receptionist at your company says Camille is your first love.”

Grayson frowned. “That’s ridiculous. Maybe I should just fire the receptionist for gossiping instead of working.” “It has nothing to do with the receptionist. How could you fire her?” Eloise protested.

“How does she have nothing to do with this? Because of all those rumors, I’m now on the verge of losing my real girlfriend,” Grayson said.

Eloise’s face turned bright red. “Who says I’m your girlfriend? Cut it out. Don’t call me that.”

Grayson gently took her hand. “Eloise, seriously, there’s nothing going on between me and Camille.”

Eloise jerked her hand away. “Stop lying to me. Camille came straight to me and said you two have been

together forever. She told me to back off and quit chasing you.

“But I’m not the one chasing you here. You’re the one who keeps showing up in my life. Grayson, this is messed up.

“If you’re really with Ms. Hopkins, then act like it and be loyal to her. You can’t just string her along while running after me. That’s not fair to anyone.”

As soon as Eloise looked up at Grayson, her heart skipped a beat at the expression on his face. Grayson looked absolutely terrifying.

“Grayson,” Eloise called out, her voice trembling.

Without a word, Grayson got out, slid into the driver’s seat, and started the car.

Eloise tried to get out, but the doors were locked.

Beckett couldn’t tear his eyes away. He watched the Bentley roar off like it owned the road, his gaze fixed long after it had disappeared from view.

“Grayson, where are you taking me?” Eloise demanded, her voice tense.

“We’re going to confront someone,” Grayson replied.

“Confront whom? About what?” Eloise asked.

“Someone’s been spreading rumors about me. I need to set the record straight,” Grayson said.

“Go by yourself. I’m not going,” Eloise said.

‘Grayson’s totally lost it. Who knows what kind of crazy drama he’ll pull this time? If things blow up, I’m seriously screwed, Eloise thought, nerves jangling.

“Grayson, let me out of the car,” Eloise demanded, her voice sharp.

Grayson stared straight ahead. “Forget it. You’re coming with me. If you’re not there, who am I even supposed to prove myself to?”

Eloise snapped, “Seriously, I don’t need your explanations. Just leave me alone and quit chasing after me.”

“Eloise, if I stop chasing you, will there be a chance for us?” Grayson asked.

Eloise was quiet for a moment, then finally spoke up, her voice barely above a whisper. “Grayson, what’s the point of all this? We come from totally different worlds.

“There’s just no way we could ever end up together. Honestly, you don’t really respect me. You think I’m just some gold-digger, right? Aren’t you worried I’d just use you for your money?”

“Eloise, you need to understand something. When I want someone, I don’t let go. Not ever,” Grayson said.
