Grayson Pierce and Eloise Caldwell novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66 A Way To Help Grayson

After Hannah woke up from her nap, the maid told her there was a guest waiting for her.

When Hannah came out and saw who it was, she was momentarily stunned. She hadn’t expected it to be Rhys. He was actually close buddies with Grayson.

Hannah walked over with a big smile. “Rhysie, you’re here.”

“Mrs. Pierce, can you just call me Rhys? If people hear you call me that, they’ll tease me,” Rhys said.

Hannah covered her mouth and laughed. “I’ve called you that forever, it’s a habit I can’t break.”

Rhys could only give in, unable to argue with Hannah.

“Rhysie, what made you drop by today? Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Hannah asked.

“Mrs. Pierce, I just wanted to see you. You’re way more important than work,” Rhys replied.

“Don’t give me that, I’m not senile yet. Come on, what’s really going on?” Hannah said.

Rhys cleared his throat. “Mrs. Pierce, you know about the woman who broke up with Grayson five years ago, right?”

Hannah blinked. “Yeah, I know. What about it?”

“Well, she’s chasing after Grayson again. Honestly, that woman’s got a real character problem. She’s just not good for him. But Grayson’s totally hung up on her. I’m really worried about him,” Rhys said.

Hannah poured him a cup of coffee. “It’s nothing to get worked up about. Grayson knows what’s up.”

Rhys said, “I’m Grayson’s best friend. I can’t just stand by and watch him make a huge mistake. How can I not be worried? I think I’ve got a way to help Grayson.”

“What’s your plan?” Hannah asked.

“How about we set Grayson up with a fiancée? That should make that woman back off.

“Camille might not come from a rich family, but she’s got a great personality and she genuinely likes Grayson. If we match them up, what do you think?” Rhys suggested.

After Rhys finished talking, he picked up the cup of coffee, about to take a sip. But before he could drink, Hannah snatched the cup right out of his hand.

Hannah slammed the cup down on the table, hauled Rhys up, and shoved him toward the door.

“What kind of idea is that? Get out. I’m still stressing about how to get Eloise together with Grayson, and you come up with this dumb plan to chase her away?

“You rascal. Why are you so scheming? Just wait, I’ll tell your grandpa and let him deal with you,” Hannah huffed.

Rhys had no idea what he’d said to set Hannah off like this. “I’m just trying to help Grayson,” Rhys protested.

“Help my ass. You heartless brat,” Hannah snapped.

Rhys was at a loss for words, just staring blankly. ‘Did I really mess up that bad?’ he thought.

Hannah shoved him out of Pierce Manor, barely stopping herself from spitting at him, and slammed the door shut with a loud bang.

Rhys just stood outside, totally confused. He hopped into his car, whipped out his phone, and dialed up Colton. “Colton, I went to see Hannah and tried to get her to play matchmaker for Grayson and Camille. Figured if they got engaged, Eloise would finally take the hint and quit clinging to Grayson.

“But Hannah totally lost it and threw me out. Dude, any idea why she got so pissed?” Rhys asked.

Colton snorted. “Serves you right.”

Rhys protested, “Some friend you are. I’m doing a forens

Colton said, “Do you seriously never check out the latest gossip in Ekloland?”

“Huh?” Rhys replied.

Colton gave an exaggerated eye roll. “I’m hanging up. I’ll send you a short video, just watch it and you’ll get the picture.”

A little while later, Rhys got a video from Colton. It was a video leaked from VirtuFusion Group, featuring Grayson, Eloise, and Camille.

After watching it, Rhys called Colton back. “What’s up with this?” he asked.

Colton said, “Camille’s been stirring up drama at VirtuFusion Group, telling everyone she’s Grayson’s first love and that they’re about to get together.

“While Grayson was out of town, she even went to Eloise and told her she and Grayson were a couple, basically telling Eloise to back off.

“When Grayson got back and found out, he dragged Eloise to VirtuFusion Group to confront Camille. The rest is all in that video.”

Rhys was stunned, totally at a loss for words. He’d always thought Camille was a decent girl, someone with good character.

Back when she saved Grayson, she had no idea who he was. She just looked after him with real care until he was discharged from the hospital.

Even after she learned Grayson’s true identity, she didn’t demand a huge payout or anything like that. All she asked was for Grayson to sponsor her to study overseas.

All these years, Camille never expected anything from Grayson. She was always low-key and never made any demands. Rhys just couldn’t wrap his head around Camille being that kind of person.

“Colton, are you sure there isn’t some mistake? Or maybe Eloise is framing Camille?” Rhys asked.

Colton rolled his eyes. “Rhys, is your head full of crap? After everything that’s happened, you’re still sticking up for Camille?”

Rhys said, “I’m not sticking up for Camille. I’m just worried Grayson’s getting played by Eloise.”

Colton was speechless. “From what I’ve seen myself, Eloise is a good girl. I’m definitely on her side. If you

keep asking for trouble like this and Grayson finds out, you’re gonna regret it.”

Rhys stared at his phone, his grandfather’s name flashing on the screen, and a twinge of worry crept in. “I’m so screwed. My grandpa’s calling. Hannah must’ve snitched on me,” he said.

Colton burst out laughing. “I’m hanging up. Have fun getting chewed out,” he said.

Rhys picked up the phone, and his grandpa Shane Perry’s booming voice blasted through. “You ungrateful brat. Get home, now.”

Rhys flinched. “Grandpa, why are you calling me back?”

“You dare ask?” Shane growled.

“How should I know?” Rhys protested.

“Don’t play dumb with me. Hannah already called and told me you’re out here trying to wreck Grayson’s wedding plans.

“What were you thinking? Grayson’s your best friend. If you’re not gonna help, at least don’t go out of your way to cause trouble,” Shane roared.

Rhys felt totally wronged and frustrated. He was just trying to help his buddy, but now everyone was blaming him for it.

Shane ordered him to be home in thirty minutes, or he’d freeze all his credit cards.

Rhys didn’t want to go back, but he had no choice. He had to go home and face the music.

When Grayson got back from his business trip, he got summoned back to Pierce Manor by a call from
