Chapter 69 Her Great Grandson

Chapter 69 Her Great-Grandson

Camille didn’t notice how badly Hannah’s hands were shaking.

She said excitedly, “Eloise has a kid. Nobody has a clue who the father is, but I’m already digging into it. Mrs. Pierce, a woman like her isn’t worthy of Grayson.

“I bet he has no idea Eloise has a son. She probably kept it from him. Right now, Grayson is totally smitten with Eloise. Mrs. Pierce, you have to stop him before he does something stupid.”

Camille had been talking nonstop before she realized Hannah was acting strange. Hannah’s eyes were glued to the photo, her lips and hands trembling.

Camille smirked, convinced that Hannah must be fuming. “Mrs. Pierce, are you okay?” she asked.

Hannah tried to hide her shock, her eyes clouded as she glanced at Camille. “I’ll keep the photo.” Camille said, “Go ahead, you can keep it.” She’d printed out several copies anyway.

“So, since you’ve been digging around, you must know which school the kid goes to, right?” Hannah pressed.

“Of course. He’s at Starlight Preschool,” Camille replied. “Eloise’s son is Noah Caldwell. He goes by her last name and is in the Pre-K 2 class at Starlight Preschool.”

Now that Hannah had the info she wanted, she paid Camille no more mind. She couldn’t wait to get to Starlight Preschool, so she spun around and headed straight for her chauffeured car.

Camille had achieved her goal, so she didn’t press the issue any further. She was eager to see how Eloise could possibly marry into the Pierce family now.

Camille was convinced that Grayson would eventually realize she was the one who truly loved him.

Hannah was still overwhelmed by the tidal wave of emotions. Her eyes welled up as she stared at the little boy in the photo.

‘There’s no doubt. That’s my great-grandson. And the timing matched up perfectly, she thought.

The boy might take after Eloise, but Hannah could still spot her grandson’s features in him. She had tons of pictures of Grayson as a kid, and this little boy was the spitting image of him.

She told her bodyguard, “Don’t bother with Hayes Group. Let’s go to Starlight Preschool right now.”

She couldn’t wait to see her great-grandson.

Grayson was having a meeting when his phone buzzed. He saw it was Hannah calling, so he walked outside to take the call. “Grandma, what’s up?” he asked.

“Grayson, is it true Eloise has a child?” Hannah pressed.

Grayson paused for a moment. “It’s her older brother’s kid,” he said, trying to sound casual.

“Don’t you think that kid looks a lot like Eloise?” she asked.

“It’s pretty normal for a nephew to take after his aunt,” Grayson replied.

Hannah was speechless at how clueless her grandson was. “Don’t you think that kid looks a bit like you?” she pressed.

Grayson burst out laughing. “Grandma, I get it. You’re dying to have a great-grandson. Just wait till I marry Eloise and give you one.”

Hannah snapped, “How do you even manage VirtuFusion Group with that brain of yours? Maybe I should tell your dad to put someone else in charge. You really piss me off.”

Grayson replied, “Dad doesn’t have another option. I’m his only son.”

Hannah was so mad she hung up on him. Grayson never once even considered that the kid could be his own.

‘Seriously, how can he be this dense?’ Hannah thought.

dismissed yet.

Eventually, the children started coming out one by one.

Hannah stood at the gate, craning her neck, but her great-grandson never showed up.

She stopped a teacher and asked, “Excuse me, why hasn’t Noah Caldwell from Pre-K 2 come out yet?”

The teacher, who was in charge of Pre-K 2, glanced at Hannah. “And you are?”

“I’m his great-grandmother,” Hannah said firmly.

“I haven’t seen you around before,” the teacher replied.

“I just arrived from out of town,” Hannah explained.

“You didn’t know Eloise signed Noah up for after-school care?” the teacher asked.

‘See? Even the teacher calls Eloise Noah’s mom, but my grandson actually thinks Noah is her nephew. He’s so clueless, Hannah thought. She couldn’t help but complain about her grandson again in her mind.

She looked at the teacher. “No, I didn’t know that. What exactly is after-school care?”

“Well, a lot of parents can’t pick up their kids at this time, and if there are no grandparents around to help out, they sign their kids up for after-school care.

“We look after the kids here until six, when their parents get off work and come pick them up,” the teacher explained.

Hannah felt a stab of pain for her great-grandson. “So my great-grandson has to stay at preschool all the way until six every single day?” she asked, her voice full of concern.

“That’s right,” the teacher replied.

“Can you let my great-grandson out now? I want to pick him up,” Hannah asked.

“Sorry, but Eloise hasn’t told me about you. Maybe you could give her a call first,” the teacher replied.

‘If Eloise calls now, her secret will be totally exposed, Hannah thought. ‘She’s been hiding Noah’s real identity all this time, and one phone call would blow her cover.’

“I don’t have a phone. Could you maybe bend the rules a little and let Noah out just this once?” Hannah pleaded.

“I have Noah’s mom’s number. I can give her a call for you,” the teacher offered.

“No, don’t do that,” Hannah blurted out, cutting her off in a panic. “I really am Noan great-grandma. If you don’ t believe me, why not just bring Noah out and see for yourself?”

Hannah knew there was no way she could actually take Noah home, but just catching a glimpse of him would be enough to warm her heart.

‘She keeps saying she’s Noah’s great-grandma, but won’t let me call his mom. Is she trying to snatch the kid?’ the teacher thought, getting suspicious.

“Ma’am, you’re not really Noah’s great-grandma, are you? Who are you, really?” the teacher asked, giving Hannah a wary look.

Hannah protested, “I’m telling you, I really am Noah’s great-grandma.”

“Fine, I’ll just call Noah’s mom then,” the teacher said, pulling out her phone.

“Wait. Please, don’t call her. I swear I’m really Noah’s great-grandma. I’ll leave right now, okay?

“Just please, don’t mention to his mom that I was here. I’ll explain everything to her myself,” Hannah begged, her heart pounding with anxiety.

The teacher just stayed silent, her expression unreadable.

Hannah turned and got into her car.

The teacher shot a look at the luxury car, frowning.
