Chapter 74 I’ll Take The Couch

Eloise buried herself in the blanket and turned away from Grayson, ignoring him completely.

Grayson wasn’t actually all that drunk. He walked over, pulled the blanket off Eloise, and scooped her up, carrying her into the bedroom without paying any mind to her protests.

“Grayson, you’re crossing the line,” Eloise shouted.

He gently laid her down on the bed and pulled the blanket over her. “You take the bed, I’ll sleep on the couch,”

he said.

Then he closed the bedroom door behind him.

Eloise stared up at the ceiling for ages before finally drifting off to sleep.

Noah woke up and did a double take when he saw Grayson on the couch. “Mr. Pierce?” Noah called out.

Grayson was tall and broad, and the small couch was way too cramped for him. His legs were all bunched up, nowhere near able to stretch out.

His brow was furrowed. He must have had a rough night.

Eloise hadn’t managed to fall asleep until late last night, and she was still out cold.

Grayson opened his eyes and was startled to find Noah sitting there beside him. “Why are you sitting here?” he asked.

Noah shot back, “Why are you sleeping out here?”

Grayson sat up, rubbing his sore neck, and gave Noah’s soft cheek a playful squeeze. “Is it so weird that I’m sleeping here?” he asked.

Noah didn’t say a word. He just headed off to the bathroom to wash up.

Not long after, Eloise got up too. She looked over at Grayson.

Noah was in a great mood all morning. Eloise could tell it was because Grayson was around.

After breakfast, Eloise broke the silence. “Grayson, could you do me a favor?”

Grayson raised an eyebrow. “Shoot.” He was genuinely taken aback. Eloise never asked him for anything.

Eloise said, “Can you look after Noah for the day? I’ve got stuff to handle.”

“So, what’s up?” Grayson asked.

When Eloise didn’t answer, Grayson’s expression turned cold. “You’re not going out with someone, are you?”

Eloise shot back, “No. If you won’t help, whatever. I’ll just take Noah…”

“I’ll do it. I’ll take him back to Pierce Manor and bring him back later,” Grayson said. Eloise hadn’t even finished her sentence before Grayson jumped in with his answer.

“Eloise, just take it already. It wasn’t easy getting that money for you,” Grayson added.

She assumed Grayson was the one who sent her the money. She didn’t want Grayson’s money.

Grayson said, “The boss isn’t dumb, but he messed with me. You think our lawyers at VirtuFusion Group are pushovers? If he doesn’t pay up, I’ll drag him to court until he’s got nothing left.”

Eloise froze. It all made sense now. If Grayson had really thrown his weight around like that.

Grayson snatched her phone, hit accept on the transfer, and handed it back to her.

Eloise stared at her account balance, completely floored. Sixty thousand had landed in her account out of nowhere. She’d never even had that much in her bank account before.

After Grayson left with Noah, Eloise cleaned every nook and cranny of the house. Truth was, she didn’t really have anything going on. She just wanted Noah to have a day with his dad.

Grayson took Noah back to Pierce Manor.

When Hannah saw Noah, her lips trembled with emotion, and her wrinkled hands kept wiping away tears.

Grayson was startled by her reaction. “Grandma, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Should I take you to the hospital?” he asked.

Hannah shoved him aside. “Get out of my way. Don’t block my view.”

Grayson just stood there, dumbfounded.

Hannah stumbled over to Noah, her hands trembling as she gently touched his face.

‘My great-grandson,’ she thought, her heart overflowing with joy.

Noah didn’t flinch. He met Hannah’s gaze and called out, “Mrs. Pierce.”

“Oh, my dear,” Hannah choked out, her voice trembling with emotion. “Good boy. Come give me a hug.”

Noah didn’t resist at all, letting Hannah pull him into a warm embrace.

Grayson could only watch, a little resigned.

Hannah held Noah close, refusing to let go. Then she rushed to the kitchen and told th dishes, stuff kids would love.

Grayson just kept eating, not bothering to get involved. He thought that Hannah didn’t have a great-grandson of her own, so she was acting like Noah was her own great-grandson.

Noah was going to be living with Eloise.

Once Grayson and Eloise got married, Noah would be living with them, officially part of the Pierce family. So it was only natural for Hannah to dote on him.

After finishing her cleaning spree, Eloise got a call from Juliette. “Eloise, did you cook anything? I was hoping to mooch a meal at your place,” she said.

Eloise chuckled. “Nope, I was just planning to grab something downstairs later.”

Juliette sounded a bit disappointed. She hadn’t felt like cooking for herself and had been hoping to score a free meal at Eloise’s place. To her surprise, Eloise hadn’t cooked anything at all.

“Where’s Noah?” Juliette asked.

“Grayson took him,” Eloise replied.

“So you’re home alone?” Juliette asked.

“Yeah,” Eloise replied.

“Awesome. Go get ready, I’m taking you out to eat,” Juliette said. Going to a restaurant alone was boring, but with a friend, it was a whole lot more fun.

Eloise was actually looking forward to getting out and just relaxing for a while. “Alright, come pick me up,”

Eloise said.

“I’ll be there in ten minutes,” Juliette replied.

Juliette swung by to pick up Eloise. “Eloise, I’m craving some barbecue.”

Eloise smiled. “Barbecue it is. My treat.”

With that unexpected 60 thousand landing in her account, she could totally treat herself to a feast today.
