Chapter 92 He Brought It Upon Himself
As soon as he said that, Grayson suddenly remembered, and his eyes turned icy cold.
He didn’t recognize them at first. Phillip looked much older now, and his daughter no longer had the arrogant, designer-clad attitude of a spoiled princess.
Grayson glanced at the father and daughter. “You’re not part of VirtuFusion Group anymore. There’s no need for you to come here and kneel. It’s pointless.”
Phillip was a decent manager, but he let his daughter, Kaylin Blake, throw her weight around at work, never reining her in.
She was the reason he lost everything.
Kaylin messed up big time.
After Grayson left Ucrevine, he had Phillip fired, kicked both him and Kaylin out of VirtuFusion Group, and Kaylin ended up behind bars.
He never bothered to check on what happened to them after that.
From what Grayson saw now, it was clear their lives hadn’t been kind to them.
You could always judge how someone was doing by their appearance and demeanor.
Phillip managed a bitter smile. “I know I’m no longer part of VirtuFusion Group, but I still felt I owed you an apology, Mr. Pierce. It’s all on me. I failed to keep Kaylin in check, and she crossed the line with you. That was a huge screw-up.”
Phillip then turned to his daughter. “Kaylin, apologize to Mr. Pierce.”
Kaylin had been through a lot; gone was the haughty, spoiled princess. She looked like a completely different person now.
She gave Grayson a ninety-degree bow. “Mr. Pierce, I’m sorry.”
Grayson stayed silent, so Kaylin remained bowed, not moving an inch.
Grayson smirked. “Phillip, if it had been someone else, would you even bother to apologize?”
Phillip was speechless.
If they hadn’t offended Grayson, they wouldn’t have been fired, and they wouldn’t have ended up like this.
For years, Phillip was baffled by how he got fired from VirtuFusion Group out of the blue, and how Kaylin’s screw-up got exposed. He thought he’d handled everything quietly behind the scenes.
Unwilling to accept his fate, he went to the general manager of the Ucrevine branch, looking for an explanation.
Kaylin’s situation was beyond saving now, but he was still hoping to keep his job.
Besides, if he could keep his job, maybe he could help Kaylin out.
The general manager told him it was a direct order from corporate HQ, and there was nothing he could do.
It wasn’t until a few days ago, when he saw some news online, that he finally realized the junior employee Kaylin had been interested in was actually the Pierce family’s only son, the guy who’d take over VirtuFusion Group one day.
That was when it all made sense-why they got kicked out.
They’d messed with the prince himself.
Phillip had worked his heart out for the Ucrevine branch for over ten years; he really cared about the company. Even after he left, he still wanted to track down Grayson and say sorry.
“Mr. Pierce, I’m sorry!” Phillip bowed low before Grayson, showing just how sorry he was.

Chapter 92 He Brought It Upon Himself
Eloise parked her car, got out, and walked toward the restaurant.
When she saw Grayson still standing at the entrance, she hesitated for a second, then walked past him, intending to find her keys inside.
Grayson caught her wrist.
He placed a set of keys in her palm.
Eloise looked up at Grayson and said, “Thanks.”
As she turned, Eloise spotted the two people nearby, and her face fell.
“Kaylin? Mr. Blake?” she blurted out.
She had a better memory than Grayson. She still recognized them right away.
Phillip gave a sheepish smile. “Ms. Caldwell, I haven’t been with VirtuFusion Group for a while now.”
Eloise pressed her lips together and stayed silent.
Kaylin suddenly gave Eloise a deep bow. “Eloise, I’m sorry.”
Eloise was stunned for a moment.
‘Is this even the same Kaylin?’ Eloise wondered. ‘Did someone possess her or something?’
Back then, Kaylin was always flaunting her designer clothes, acting like the company belonged to her. You’d swear she owned the place.
Five years ago, Kaylin ordered her around like a queen. “Eloise, I want Grayson. If you want to keep your job, you’d better break up with him.
“Eloise, if you dump Grayson yourself, he’ll be fine. Otherwise, I’ll have my dad pin everything on him and let him take the blame.
“You probably don’t get how serious this is. If Grayson takes the fall, he could end up in jail. His whole life would be over.
“Is that what you want? To see Grayson ruined? Eloise, if I can’t have Grayson, I’ll ruin him myself.”

Just thinking back to those days, Eloise felt like her throat was being squeezed. She could hardly catch her breath.
Not long after Grayson left, Phillip was suddenly fired from VirtuFusion Group.
It happened out of nowhere, and nobody had a clue why.
Word around the office was that Phillip was getting old, kept running into dead ends looking for work, and eventually ended up as a food delivery guy.
Kaylin got arrested and was sentenced to five years in prison.
It turned out she was behind that whole accident.
She wanted Grayson to take the blame for it, too.
Eloise absolutely hated her back then.
“Kaylin, what’s the point of apologizing to me? Because of you, you ruined someone’s entire life. You wrecked a family,” Eloise said.
And thanks to her, Eloise and Grayson broke up.
But she left that last part unsaid.
Grayson narrowed his eyes, unable to shake the feeling there was something he was missing.
“Kaylin, why are you apologizing to Eloise?” Grayson asked.
He knew Kaylin liked him back then. She kept pestering him, flaunting her dad’s authority around the office, but he always shot her down with cold, hard rejections.

Chapter 92 He Brought It Upon Himself
Kaylin knew Grayson’s true identity and was terrified. She just shook her head, too scared to say a word, then turned and ran off, not even caring about Phillip.
Phillip apologized for Kaylin. “Mr. Pierce, Kaylin… she liked you back then. Since you and Ms. Caldwell were together, she tried to make Ms. Caldwell break up with you…”
Grayson looked at Eloise, stunned. “Why didn’t you ever say anything?”
He was completely in the dark about all of it.
Eloise’s face stayed cold. “It’s over. Why talk about it now?”
If either she or Grayson had spoken up about the problem back then, maybe they could’ve figured it out together.
If he hadn’t kept his identity a secret.
Maybe things would’ve turned out differently.
