Chapter 95 You’re Even More Popular

Camille was staking out the preschool entrance when she unexpectedly saw Grayson dropping off the kids.

She hid behind a tree, her nails digging so hard into the bark that she was actually peeling it off.

She’d heard that Grayson had taken Eloise back to Pierce Manor.

‘He actually brought that woman home to meet his parents? Why?’ Camille thought.

‘Why would he rather be with a woman who’s already had a kid than with me?’ she fumed.

‘What makes Eloise so special? What does she have that I don’t?’ Camille thought.

She watched Grayson drive away, her gaze lingering with longing and obsession.

She’d had her eye on him for three years, and she was determined to marry him.

She was going to join the Pierce family, become a wealthy socialite, and rewrite her destiny. No one could stop her. Anyone who dared to stand in her way would regret it.

Camille’s eyes darkened with malice.

Her phone rang.

She saw the call was from the detective agency and answered.

“Ms. Hopkins, we’ve discovered who the father of Eloise’s child is,” the detective said.

Camille’s fingers tightened around her phone. “Who?”

“Ms. Hopkins, send me the money we agreed on first, then I’ll tell you,” the detective said.

Camille was flat broke. She could barely afford food, rent was almost due, and her account barely had a hundred bucks left.

“Tell me first, then I’ll send the money,” Camille pressed.

“Sorry, Ms. Hopkins, rules are rules. Money first. Think it over. I’m hanging up. Whenever you send the money, you’ll get what you want,” the detective said.

A kitten darted past.

Annoyed, Camille grabbed a rock and chucked it at the kitten, making it bolt away in terror.

Camille clicked her tongue and muttered, “Tsk, didn’t even hit it.”

An old lady walked by, saw what Camille had done, and scolded her, “What’s wrong with you, girl? Did that kitten ever bother you? You’re heartless! Seriously, how could you be so mean?”

“Mind your own damn business!” Camille snarled.

The old lady was intimidated by Camille’s menacing glare and quickly walked away.

Eloise walked into the office, and colleagues, whether she knew them or not, were all saying hi to her.

Beckett came up behind her. “You’re even more popular than my dad right now.”

Eloise looked embarrassed. “Mr. Hayes, don’t tease me. It’s actually a bit overwhelming.”

All she wanted was to keep her head down, do her job, and earn a paycheck.

Beckett gave a wry smile. “Now that people know you’re connected to Grayson, you’ll have more folks trying to suck up to you, and just as many who’ll hate your guts.”

Eloise nodded. “Yeah, I get it. The more famous you get, the more trouble comes your way.”

Beckett glanced at her, started to say something, but thought better of it.

The elevator arrived, and they stepped in one after the other.

As lunchtime approached, Giavanna shovatar

She was rocking the latest Chanel suit, Hermès bag in hand, and her burgundy waves bounced as she walked. She marched straight toward Beckett’s office in her high heels.

Felice glanced at Eloise, silently asking if she should block Giavanna.

Eloise gave her a quick nod.

Felice quickly stepped in to block Giavanna. “Ms. Jenkins, could you wait outside for a moment? I’ll let Mr. Hayes know you’re here.”

Giavanna was Beckett’s fiancée, so Felice didn’t dare offend her and spoke with extra caution.

Giavanna frowned.

She thought, ‘If I just walk right in, Beckett’s definitely going to be annoyed.

So she said, “Alright, hurry up and let him know.”

Felice knocked on Beckett’s office door.

“Come in,” Beckett called from inside.

Felice pushed the door open. “Mr. Hayes, Ms. Jenkins is here. She’s waiting outside.”

Beckett rubbed his temples. “Let her in.”

Felice stepped out and said, “Ms. Jenkins, Mr. Hayes said you can go in.”

Giavanna shot Eloise a disdainful look, her chin held high as she strode into the office.

Eloise heard Giavanna’s syrupy voice call out, “Beckett, darling,” and she couldn’t help but flinch.

Beckett didn’t even glance at Giavanna, just kept working on his paperwork.

Giavanna walked up to his desk. “Beckett, it’s lunchtime. Let’s have lunch together. I called answer. I texted you, but you didn’t reply, so I had to come all the way here to see you.”

Beckett didn’t even look up. “I’m busy. Besides, Felice already ordered my lunch.”

“Beckett, takeout is so bland. Why don’t we go out for lunch together?” Giavanna pouted.

“I’m busy. I really can’t right now,” Beckett replied.

“Beckett, I’m your fiancée. My dad said you have to eat lunch with me,” Giavanna said.

Giavanna was playing the Cyrus card.

Beckett tossed his pen down in frustration, stood up, and walked out.

Giavanna hurried after him. “Wait up, Beckett…”

They vanished down the hallway, leaving the 17th floor behind.

Felice and Bertha both glanced at Eloise, but she didn’t look jealous at all, just cool and collected.

“Eloise, wanna grab lunch with us?” Felice asked.

Eloise kept typing on her computer. “You guys go ahead. I’ll join you once I finish up.”

The two of them linked arms and walked off together.

“Ms. Caldwell didn’t even bat an eye when Mr. Hayes and Ms. Jenkins left,” Felice said.

“She’s got Mr. Pierce now, like she’d even look twice at Mr. Hayes,” Bertha replied. “Yeah, true,” Felice agreed.

Eloise had just closed her laptop when her phone rang. Grayson was calling.

Grayson’s voice was curt. “Come down.”

Eloise pressed her lips together, grabbed her bag, and headed downstairs.

By the time she got downstairs, the lobby was nearly empty. She slipped into Grayson’s car. “Drive.”

Grayson laughed. “Why are you acting like we’re sneaking around or something?”

Eloise replied, “I just don’t want everyone watching us.”

Grayson didn’t say anything else, just started the car and drove off.

Grayson took her to Galen’s restaurant.

Galen wasn’t there, but the manager knew Grayson and made sure they were well taken care of.

When the food arrived, Grayson ladled a bowl of soup for Eloise and set it in front of her. “It’s cold out. Have some soup to warm up.”

Eloise lowered her head and took small sips with her spoon.

Grayson’s voice sounded stuffy.

Eloise looked up. “Did you bring your medicine?”
