He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 118

Tears fell from Naomi’s eyes, unstoppable and bright. She laughed through her sobs, looking for all the world like a child who couldn’t decide between happiness and heartbreak.

Theresia had arranged to meet her team at the bidding venue, but by the time she arrived, everyone was already there waiting. Lewis came over, lowering his voice just a little. “Teresa, the only one we’re missing is The Lee Group’s representative.”

There was no way Lawrence would skip something this important. With the way he handled things, he never lost once he decided to get involved. In the past three years, as far as Theresia knew, The Lee Group hadn’t lost a single bid they’d entered.

She settled into her seat, sounding sure of herself. “He’ll be here.”

Lewis sat down next to her, curiosity all over his face. “Teresa, you seem to know a lot about The Lee Group. Actually, it sounds like you know Lawrence himself pretty well. Did you guys know each other before?”

Theresia had impressed everyone, from suggesting revisions to breaking down the competitor’s likely bidding strategy. She slipped off her sunglasses, glancing at Lewis with a half-smile. “We’ve met, but we’re not close.”

Lewis just blinked at her, clearly not expecting that answer, but he let it go.

Their company drew the second slot for the presentations. When Theresia walked in to do their pitch, The Lee Group’s people still hadn’t arrived. She wasn’t worried though—she’d already checked the order and The Lee Group was last up, so there was plenty of time.

Her black heels clicked against the floor as she pushed open the door to the presentation room. As she made her way to the front, she recognized three of the five panel experts from the Onyx Club the night before.

Guess she’d been right. Garry’s invitation, the way he’d flirted with her, it was all for show. He wanted those panelists to know she had his attention, so they’d think twice before trying anything shady. He wasn’t handing her the win, just making sure the game was fair.

The memory of Garry calling her Tessie and what he’d said as he left the club flashed through her mind. No one would dare mess with someone under his protection.

Someone under his protection? The thought made her cheeks flush, though she quickly pulled herself together and walked up to the front with her head held high.

Theresia’s presentation was better than ever, running a full thirty minutes before she finally wrapped up. As soon as she stepped out, her teammates crowded around her, full of nervous energy.

“I saw him on that business interview show. Why’s he here himself?”

“The Lee Group is a big deal now. Not surprising at all he’d show up.”

“He must really care about this bid.”

Lawrence stopped right in front of Theresia, his gaze serious and steady. “So you’re the owner behind GlobalSpan Logistics?”

Theresia’s reply was all business. “Lawrence, nice to see you.”

She was about to keep moving, but he suddenly reached out, took her wrist, and led her straight out of the waiting area.
