He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 119

Lawrence pulled Theresia into the fire escape and shut the heavy security door behind them, twisting the lock with a sharp click. He pressed her back against the wall, his eyes dark with frustration and anger. But because it was her—the woman he loved most—he made himself hold it together.

“Kingsport means a lot to me, Theresia. Please, stop causing trouble.”

Kingsport wasn’t just some project for Lawrence. It was the key to the entire shipping industry. Harrisburg’s docks had been privatized one by one, and this was the government’s last and biggest port. Every major company wanted a shot, and the competition was brutal.

Lawrence never bothered with the smaller players. He hadn’t even taken GlobalSpan Logistics seriously until today, until he realized who was behind it. Now that he knew it was Theresia, everything was different.

The wall was cold against her back, but Theresia didn’t care about Lawrence’s attitude. “What are you so scared of, Lawrence? Do you really have that little faith in yourself?”

He scowled, voice dropping lower. “Theresia, why do you have to fight me on everything? I told you, I can make up for the past. I promise, I won’t see Patti again. You’re the only one I care about. Theresia, please… Can’t we just live our lives in peace?”

She let out a cold laugh, lifting her chin. “And what makes you think I’d ever go back to you? What makes you think I even care? Lawrence, the moment I was lying on that operating table, choosing to let go of that child, was the moment everything between us ended.”

Lawrence’s jaw clenched, the look in his eyes as sharp as broken glass. The child he’d dreamed of, the one he’d treasured… gone. It was a memory that cut him every single time.

He stared at her. “How could you do that, Theresia? That was your child too. How could you possibly…”

How could she? She’d gone through hell and back, suffered mentally and physically just to have that child. Losing it hurt more than anything, but she never once regretted her choice. Maybe people would call her selfish, but Theresia thought taking responsibility for a life meant knowing when not to bring it into the world. If she couldn’t do it right, not having the baby was the kindest thing she could do.

Out of the corner of her eye, Theresia saw Lawrence coming back in. Her voice was cool, almost breezy. “No. Theresia died three years ago.”

It sounded like she was just answering their question, but really, it was meant for someone else.

Lawrence stopped right beside Lewis and put a hand on his shoulder. “Let’s trade seats.”

Lewis looked from Theresia to Lawrence, obviously nervous. “Sorry, Mr. Lee. I really can’t.”

By now, everyone in the room had figured it out. Teresa was Lawrence’s ex-wife. No wonder she knew him so well.
