He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 144

Lawrence’s face stayed dark as he pulled his gaze away.

Patti moved in, her eyes soft with concern. “That must hurt a lot. How could Theresia do that to you? If it were me, I’d rather hurt myself than let you get hurt.”

Lawrence looked at Patti, turning her words over in his mind.

She was right. How could Theresia hurt him like this? The woman who had once loved him so much now felt like a stranger.

He sank into his thoughts, lost and confused.

Honestly, Theresia was in a pretty good mood tonight. Farris noticed as he drove her home.

He hummed a little tune and Theresia joined in, her voice light.

Farris grinned. “So, Theresia, what did you ever see in Lawrence?”

She laughed. “Did you forget? I must have been blind back then.”

Farris nodded, playing along. “Totally blind.”

He dropped her off and after a quick goodbye, drove away.

It was late. The crescent moon hung above the trees. The moonlight stretched her shadow along the path.

Theresia pulled out her phone, checking it almost without thinking.

No missed calls, no new messages. She didn’t even know what she was hoping to find.

She felt a little ridiculous. She barely knew Garry, so why was she expecting anything from him?

She put her phone away and started walking into her building.

She hadn’t made it far when her phone rang. She stopped, surprised to see Helena’s name.

The streets were empty. Theresia drove fast, turning a thirty-minute trip into twenty. She pulled up to the Onyx Club and headed for the private rooms upstairs.

Upstairs, it was much quieter than the noisy main floor.

She found the right room and opened the door.

The music and laughter stopped suddenly. Everyone stared at her.

Theresia didn’t care. She scanned the room and spotted Helena, unconscious on the sofa in the corner.

Two men sat beside her, their eyes lingering on Helena in a way that made Theresia’s skin crawl.

Her expression turned cold as she walked straight over.

She reached for Helena, but one of the men blocked her with his arm. “Hold on, Theresia,” he sneered. “Helena had a lot to say to Jared tonight. Don’t you think you owe him an explanation?”
