He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 19

When someone mentioned the baby, Theresia felt a sharp ache in her chest. She paused, her eyebrows drawing together for a moment, before she forced herself to look calm again. Her voice was soft, almost too quiet to hear. “I already lost it.”

She sounded so detached, like it didn’t matter at all.

But Hanson had seen everything she’d gone through for Lawrence over the last three years. She had given up so much for him. Theresia had tried everything just to have a child with him. Helena had even come up with a complicated treatment, but it was unbelievably painful. Theresia never complained, not even once.

And now, after everything, she had let go of the one thing she’d fought so hard for.

You’d only do something that hurt yourself this much if you’d reached the point of absolute heartbreak.

Hanson could only imagine how much it hurt.

He tried to lighten the mood, flashing her a half-smile. “Honestly, it’s probably for the best. Lawrence is such a jerk. He doesn’t deserve to have a kid with you. He should end up old and alone with no one to care about him. Once you’re out of Harrisburg, you can date whoever you want, have as many kids as you want, and let him regret everything. Let him rot with jealousy.”

Thinking about the look on Lawrence’s face when he found out about the “surprise” she was leaving behind for him, Theresia actually started to look forward to leaving.

After a bit, she spoke up again. “Hanson, there’s something else I need your help with.”

“Of course. What do you need?”

Her face got serious. “I know exactly what level Patti’s art is at. She used to paint in a realistic style, but lately all her ‘big’ pieces are abstract. A painter’s style doesn’t just change overnight unless something huge happens in their life. Even then, it shouldn’t be a total flip from what they used to do.”

Leila wouldn’t let Theresia paint at home. One time, as a punishment, she even stomped on Theresia’s hand. If Helena hadn’t found a really good doctor, Theresia’s hand might have been ruined forever.

Hanson didn’t even hesitate. “No problem. I’ll handle it. I promise I’ll get you answers before you leave. Oh, and I’ll look into that car accident too. Seriously, don’t waste money on a PI when I’ll do it for free.”

Theresia had actually thought about asking Hanson first, but since this involved Lawrence, she’d hired someone else. Lawrence had clawed his way up from nothing, and he wouldn’t hesitate to play dirty.

She didn’t want Hanson getting caught up in any mess, which was why she went to someone outside.

She didn’t explain all that, just said, “You’ll have plenty to do for me soon enough. Let someone else handle the car accident for now. Just help me with Patti.”
