The man who saved her at the ranch? Garry.
Teresa had been in a pretty good mood, but hearing his name made her calm heart stir in ways she hadn’t expected. After Garry dropped her off at the hospital, he just disappeared. It was like he’d vanished from the face of the earth. She never saw him again.
At one point, Teresa tried to reach out. She sent him a message, only to realize he’d already blocked her.
She figured that once everything with Lawrence was over, their collaboration would end and they’d probably never see each other again. Still, she never thought Garry would cut ties so completely, or that he’d block her without a word.
Her face fell a little, her brows knitting together. “There’s really nothing between us. We’re not even friends. We don’t talk anymore.”
Dave stared at her, genuinely surprised.
How was that possible? He could still remember the way that guy looked at Teresa, the worry in his eyes. No way was he imagining how much Garry cared.
But Teresa didn’t look like she was hiding anything.
Dave let the topic drop, teasing gently, “Guess I read that situation all wrong. Still, someone like you must have a ton of admirers.”
That’s when Davina’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “Teresa, I actually have a relative in Veridian who works in finance. If you’re interested, I can introduce you two.”
Teresa’s smile turned a little stiff.
She didn’t want to turn Davina down outright, so she just managed a polite smile and stayed quiet.
Simon didn’t even hesitate. “Yeah, bring her by.”
That was it? Just like that? People always said Simon was difficult, but he seemed pretty easygoing to her.
Then he added, “Actually, it’s perfect timing. I just found this really rare pigment in Dragonspine Ridge. You’ve gotta see it.”
Simon was obsessed with art, and all his pigments were naturally sourced. He’d been to Dragonspine Ridge several times, all for a mineral that made a one-of-a-kind blue.
Teresa thought it over. Things in Harrisburg had finally settled down. Maybe it was time for a break. She could take Davina to Veridian, and visit Simon while she was there.
