He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 243

Teresa kept walking, not even slowing down, while Ophelia lost it behind her, screaming at the top of her lungs. “Teresa, I’m going to sue you! I’ll make sure you end up in jail!”

Teresa didn’t bother looking back. She just smiled, shaking her head at Ophelia’s threats. With Hanson as her close friend, and him being one of the best lawyers around, Teresa knew enough about the law to see right through Ophelia’s bluff. If Ophelia actually tried to press charges for assault, it’d probably just turn into a civil mediation. Nothing to worry about.

Once she was out of the hospital, Teresa sent the video she’d just taken to Carl.

A moment later, Carl sent a voice message. “Teresa, you need something else?”

“Yeah,” she replied, “see if you can share this video in The Haven Medical Center staff group chat.”

Carl replied with a quick okay.

With that sorted, Teresa finally climbed into her car. The air inside was a little stale, so she rolled down the window. She had just grabbed the steering wheel and was about to hit the gas when her group chat with Helena and Hanson suddenly exploded with notifications.

The messages came so fast her phone wouldn’t stop buzzing. At first, Teresa tried to ignore it, but the nonstop vibration was impossible to tune out. She finally gave in and opened the chat, only to be hit with a wave of dramatic complaints.

Helena: Teresa, not cool! You have a fiancé and you kept it from me and Hanson?

Hanson: Teresa, we’ve known each other since we were kids. How could you go behind our backs and date someone without telling us? Are we even your friends?

Helena: Exactly! I’m so upset. I’m about to lock myself in the bathroom and cry.

Hanson: My heart is shattered.

The two of them kept it up, trading over-the-top messages and spamming the chat with crying and angry emojis. Teresa’s hand was literally going numb from her phone buzzing so much.

When the group finally calmed down, Teresa replied.

I don’t even have a boyfriend, let alone a fiancé. Parrish is just a friend I met recently. I’m just as confused as you guys are. Let me figure out what’s going on and I’ll fill you in later.

Honestly, Teresa had been annoyed at first, but hearing him say that, she didn’t even know what to say anymore.

Sensing her hesitation, Parrish added, “Don’t worry. I’ll clear things up soon. I promise you won’t have any trouble because of this.”

Teresa squeezed the steering wheel, her voice soft. “I’m not calling to blame you. I just didn’t want you to get caught up in this mess.”

Parrish laughed, his voice warm and bright. “Teresa, I don’t mind at all.”

She pressed her lips together, her brows knitting in thought.

Finally, she said, “Thank you.”

The drama had come and gone in a flash. That morning, everyone thought Teresa was a mess. By afternoon, she was suddenly the woman everyone envied.
