He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 32

Susan stared, completely stunned. Her voice was shaky and urgent. “Theresia, you’re going to burn the flowers.”

Theresia didn’t respond. She kept pouring until the kettle was empty, then handed it back to Susan.

“I want them dead.”

Susan just stood there, watching as Theresia walked away. She didn’t move, her mind spinning.

What could have possibly happened to her?

At the club, Patti and her friends were letting loose on the dance floor. The whole place was wild. Lawrence was the only one who looked like he didn’t belong.

One girl called out, “Patti, where’s your husband? Why isn’t he here with you?”

Another laughed, “You really don’t get it. Who actually brings their husband out to party? Right, Patti?”

Someone else piped up, “Oh, I get it now. The grass is always greener, huh? Patti just knows how to have a good time.”

Patti’s eyes flickered over to Lawrence for a second.

She didn’t care about Lawrence. She didn’t care about Jared either. To be honest, she didn’t care about anyone but herself. All these men were just pawns she used to get back at Theresia.

Just thinking about Theresia crying herself to sleep tonight made her feel giddy.

Patti grinned. “Come on, let’s drink. Forget about him.”

Lawrence sat on the couch, lost in his thoughts. He finished his glass of red wine in one go.

Without thinking, he reached into his pocket and touched the necklace he’d picked out for Theresia’s birthday.

He had planned to give it to her in front of everyone, to put it on her himself. After three years of marriage, it was the first time he’d ever chosen a gift for her that really meant something.

He hung up and got up to leave, moving quickly.

Patti noticed and said something to her friends, then hurried after him. She caught up, breathless. “What happened? Did something go wrong?”

Lawrence didn’t slow down, heading straight for the elevator. His voice was tense but certain. “It’s nothing. Theresia wouldn’t leave me.”

She loved him. There was no way she’d ever leave.

Patti had to almost run to keep up. “Lawrence, calm down. She’s probably just upset. Women do this sometimes, you know? Throw a little tantrum, play a few games.”

Lawrence just frowned, not saying a word as he stepped into the elevator.

By the time he got back to Verdant Heights, the sun was already starting to rise.

He pushed the door open, barely able to breathe. “Is Theresia back?”
