He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 4

Birthday gifts, anniversary presents, Valentine’s surprises... She’d even sold the wedding ring Lawrence had slipped onto her finger, the one she once cherished above all else.

If the man didn’t belong to her, she didn’t want him.-

If something wasn’t hers, she let it go too.

That night, Theresia got a call from Patti.

Patti said Lawrence had had too much to drink and asked her to come pick him up.

Seriously? Sending a blind woman to fetch a drunk man? The whole thing was a joke, unless, of course, Patti had something up her sleeve. Theresia figured her latest tweet must’ve made Patti nervous.

Onyx Club was one of the hottest spots in Harrisburg.

Theresia couldn’t see the chaos inside, but the pounding music and wild voices painted a pretty clear picture. She wrinkled her nose, already hating the place.

She stood just inside the entrance, reaching for her phone to call Patti, when a voice called out to her.

“You’re Theresia, right? Patti said I should meet you here.”

A woman hurried over and hooked her arm through Theresia’s, way too familiar. “Patti told me, if I saw a blind woman with a cane, that’d be you. Looks like she was right.”

You could always tell if someone was friendly or fake just by the way they spoke.

This woman? Definitely one of Patti’s little followers.

Theresia kept her cool, gave a small, polite smile. Women like this weren’t worth getting worked up over.

“Maybe the blind girl’s a freak in bed and Lawrence can’t get enough. When he finally dumps her, I might have to try her out myself, see if she’s really that good.”

Everybody knew Patti had been switched at birth by a nanny, and Theresia was the nanny’s real daughter.

People always said Theresia owed Patti and her adoptive parents everything.

Theresia stood still. She couldn’t see their faces, and their voices meant nothing to her. But if they were this bold at one of Lawrence’s parties, they must be close to him. It also meant Lawrence brought Patti to hang out with them all the time, and this definitely wasn’t the first time they’d made her the punchline. They knew just how far they could push.

Lawrence didn’t care, so they saw no reason to hold back.

A cold wave washed over Theresia. Her brows drew together, sharp and beautiful.

Then, following the sound of their voices, she made her way forward, reached blindly for a glass on the table, and flung the drink right in their direction.
