He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 40

Patti clutched her face, eyes wide with outrage and disbelief. “You just slapped me? Are you insane?”

Theresia glanced at her own hand, a sly grin tugging at her lips. “Yeah, I slapped you. What about it? Did you want me to check the calendar and pick a special day or something? It’s not like I’m planning a funeral. Don’t make such a big deal out of it.”

“You—” Patti’s voice shook with anger as she raised her hand, ready to strike back. But then she caught sight of someone across the room.

Blond hair, piercing blue eyes, tall and broad-shouldered, dressed in a suit that looked expensive even from a distance. His presence demanded attention and his sharp features were impossible to forget.

Patti knew exactly who he was. She had done her homework. Frank, the owner of Vermilion Gallery.

In a split second, Patti dropped the act of fury and summoned a few dramatic tears. She walked toward Theresia, making a show of wiping her eyes and looking utterly devastated.

As Patti brushed past her, Theresia realized Patti had never really been interested in her. There was always a bigger target.

Patti turned her watery gaze on Frank, her voice trembling just enough to sound fragile. “Frank, please, you have to get this rude, violent woman out of here. She’s ruining the reputation of your gallery.”

Leila jumped in, eager to add fuel to the fire. “Frank, she hit my daughter for no reason. Who knows who she’ll attack next? She’s a danger to every guest in this place.”

They were playing the victim, hoping Frank would be quick to judge and throw Theresia out.

Patti smirked to herself, certain she had already won.

Frank didn’t move, just stood there watching Theresia. He finally spoke, his tone flat. “You’re saying she’s crazy? That she’s bringing down the gallery’s standards?”

Patti jumped in before Frank could say more, her voice thick with tears. “See, Frank? She’s not even sorry. She’s acting like she’s above everyone.”

Frank looked at her, then asked, “Does it hurt?”

Was he actually worried about her?

Patti’s voice turned small and pitiful as she pressed her hand to her cheek. “Yes, it hurts a lot.”

Frank’s face grew colder. He pushed Patti aside, not bothering to hide his disgust. “Who said I was talking to you?”

He walked straight to Theresia, his eyes filled with real concern. “Her face is so thick, you probably hurt your hand.”
