He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 55

Theresia felt her guard go up almost without thinking. She caught Garry’s eyes and decided to take charge of the situation. “You’re being too polite, Garry. This is just a family dinner. You’re not interrupting anything at all.”

Garry’s tense expression softened, and he let a hint of a smile play on his lips. He didn’t hesitate, just pulled out a chair and sat down. “Well, if that’s the case, I hope you won’t mind if I join in.”

Theresia and Farris glanced at each other, not quite sure how to react. Marietta tried to keep things light, her smile a little forced. “Of course we don’t mind. I just hope you won’t feel out of place.”

Garry made himself comfortable, choosing the seat right next to Theresia without missing a beat.

She could see him clearly from the corner of her eye, his presence impossible to ignore. What exactly was he up to? He didn’t seem like the type who’d show up just for a free meal, and he definitely wasn’t here to impress Marietta.

After their first meeting, Theresia’s curiosity had gotten the better of her and she’d looked him up. There wasn’t much to find. All she knew was that he was some mysterious investor who had been spending a lot of time in Harrisburg lately. In the past three months alone, Garry had invested over a billion dollars in various projects around the city.

Entrepreneurs all over Harrisburg were eager to meet him, hoping to land his backing and push their businesses forward.

A thought hit Theresia. She remembered hearing that Garry had been in touch with The Lee Group, the company Lawrence had started from scratch.

That only made her more curious. Almost without realizing it, she found herself looking over at him again.

Garry spoke up, sounding completely at ease. “I get along pretty well anywhere, Marietta. No need to worry about me. Eating alone is boring anyway. At least here, I get a chance to talk with you about some investment projects.”

With him putting it like that, Marietta really couldn’t refuse. Still, the whole thing felt awkward.

Theresia rolled her eyes, completely speechless. The story went back a few years. Farris had been in the hospital after an accident, staying in a fancy suite. One of the nurses tried to kiss him while he was half asleep. He ended up throwing up so hard he thought his organs would come out. Ever since then, he’d been terrified of women getting too close.

Farris walked her to the entrance and then headed back inside.

Theresia made her way down the steps, the skirt of her dress fluttering in the breeze. She moved with natural, effortless grace, but her high heels were killing her, rubbing her feet raw.

She finally had enough, slipped off the shoes, and carried them in her hand. The relief was instant. No one should torture themselves for fashion.

From behind her, Garry watched her go.
