He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 79

Silverpine University had a mostly open campus, so anyone could get in with an ID check. Theresia showed her ID and made her way to the basketball courts.

She already knew where to find Webb. He played on the university team and basically lived on the court, only heading home when it got dark unless something important came up.

The campus buzzed with youthful energy, students everywhere, laughter echoing down the walkways. It took Theresia about twenty minutes to find the courts. She stopped outside the green chain-link fence, scanning the players until she spotted Webb in a white jersey.

Theresia kept her distance, watching quietly. She decided to wait until he took a break before going over.

People came and went, but Theresia stood perfectly still, almost like she was rooted to the spot. It didn’t take long for Webb to notice her.

One of his teammates shot him a look, nodding toward Theresia. “Dude, that girl’s been watching you forever. Is she your new fangirl or something?”

Webb held the basketball and glanced at the fence, his face full of arrogance. “I don’t know any old women like that.”

His teammate grinned. “She’s probably waiting for your number.”

Webb didn’t even blink. “I’ll go see what she wants.”

He tossed the ball to his teammate and walked over.

Theresia was a little surprised he came over on his own. That surprise disappeared the second he opened his mouth.

“I’m not into older women, so stop wasting your time. Don’t even bother asking for my number. Just leave me alone.”

He hurried back onto the court. Theresia didn’t leave. She needed his testimony, and she wasn’t giving up that easily.

About half an hour later, before the sun had set, Webb gave up on playing. He slung his backpack over one shoulder and left the court, catching sight of Theresia still waiting.

He scowled and picked up his pace. Of course, Theresia followed.

Annoyed, Webb snapped, “Can you quit following me? I’ve already told you how I feel. Have some self-respect.”

Theresia walked beside him, totally unfazed. Webb didn’t owe her anything. Why should he get dragged into all this? She knew she had to give him a reason.

“Last month, Silverpine offered you a chance to study abroad. You told your parents, but they said no because they can’t afford it, not with your little brother still in high school. If you help me, I’ll pay for everything. I’ll even look after your parents and brother while you’re gone.”
