He Gave Her My Eyes A Story of Final Sight novel Chapter 93

Once Patti’s heels finally clicked out of earshot, Theresia let out a quiet sigh. The conversation she’d just overheard was still spinning in her mind, her brows drawn together in worry. She never thought Patti would actually set her sights on her biological father. The thought left a bad taste in her mouth.

A low voice drifted over. “Teresa, are you planning to let go any time soon?”

It was only then she realized she was still clinging to the man’s waist. She jerked her hands away and looked up, cheeks burning. “Sorry, I panicked, I didn’t mean to…”

She felt awkward and apologetic, and maybe a little flustered too. Why was he even here? Was he here for the matchmaking event? That would be too much.

Her eyes widened with surprise. “Garry? Why are you here?”

Garry had changed into a new suit, still black, but with a different, sharper cut. The navy shirt and sapphire cufflinks just made him look even more polished and expensive.

He looked at her for a moment, then said softly, “I was at an event upstairs. Came down to meet a friend.”

So that was it. As long as he wasn’t here to get matched up with her, she could relax.

Theresia smiled politely. “You should go find your friend, then. I’m heading out.”

She lifted the skirt of her blue dress, the pearly shimmer catching the light overhead. For a moment, she almost felt like a mermaid slipping away under the chandeliers.

Before she could leave, Garry reached out and caught her wrist. The blue of her gown matched his cufflinks, the colors echoing between them. As she glanced back at him, his heart thudded in his chest.

“What is it?” she asked.

Garry met her gaze. His palm tightened, Adam’s apple bobbing. For once, he actually looked nervous. “If it had been someone else earlier, would you have grabbed them too?”

He saw her irritation, hesitated, then shrugged it off. “Forget it. It’s nothing.”

For someone who always seemed so powerful and put-together, that flash of loneliness on his face felt completely out of place. Theresia didn’t get him at all, but she figured she didn’t need to. Other than sharing the same goal, there was nothing else connecting them.

Since he didn’t want to talk, she didn’t press. “Alright, I’ll let you get back to what you were doing.”

Garry’s expression was unreadable, his emotions locked away. He just nodded. “Okay.”

As Theresia walked away, she could feel his eyes following her. The feeling made her uneasy, so she quickened her steps. After wandering around for a while, she finally found a quiet spot to sit. Not long after, Helena showed up at last.

Helena sat down beside her, practically beaming. “So, did you see anyone you like? How did things go with Carney just now?”
