Jared grew up with everything handed to him, his confidence matching Lawrence’s in every way. Normally, if someone talked to him like this, he’d snap. But Theresia was different.
He stuck to his word, determined and relentless, just like he’d promised at the banquet. He was going to prove himself to her with real actions.
“Theresia, just take the flowers today. I’ll leave you alone right after,” he said.
She was rushing and not in the mood for games. “Alright, you said it.” She took the bouquet from his arms. True to his promise, Jared stepped aside and let her get in the car.
He watched her drive off, a huge smile spreading across his face. Maybe her accepting his flowers meant she was starting to let him in again. Maybe it meant she still had feelings for him. The thought filled him with joy, and he couldn’t stop grinning.
But then, out of nowhere, a bouquet came flying from the window of Theresia’s speeding car. Jared’s smile froze instantly.
...
Theresia pulled up at GlobalSpan Logistics and got out, not forgetting to gather the stray rose petals from the passenger seat and toss them away. She didn’t leave a single trace behind.
Jared’s little stunt didn’t throw her off one bit. Once Theresia switched to work mode, she was all focus and professionalism.
It seemed the general manager had given everyone a heads-up about her visit. The whole team was on their best behavior, and her first impressions were solid. She met with the head of the bidding department and made her intentions clear.
Of course, Theresia wanted Kingsport mostly because of Lawrence, but if she pulled it off, it would be a huge win for the whole company.
The room fell silent again. Theresia didn’t rush them. She just waited.
Finally, one of the executives broke the silence. “Teresa’s right. I support her decision.”
Once someone spoke up, the rest quickly followed. Soon, all the senior managers were behind her.
Theresia jumped on the momentum. With everyone in high spirits, she rolled up her sleeves and stayed at the office, working alongside the team to get started on the bidding documents right away.
