Before she could finish her sentence, Nelson interrupted her. "Juniper is here?"
Helena froze for a second before nodding. "Ms. Lane is in the Archives. Caleb mentioned that her studio lost a few employees, so she came to recruit some replacements."
Nelson immediately stood up and headed for the door.
Helena quickly followed him. "About Ms. Lawrence..."
Sweat beaded on her forehead. She was terrified she had backed the wrong horse. If Nelson cared more about Felicity, then her intervention had been a catastrophic mistake.
"Ignore her."
Those two words made Helena's suspended heart drop safely back into her chest.
She stopped following him and offered a polite bow. "With your word, Mr. Saint, I am fully reassured."
Only when Nelson's figure completely disappeared did Helena discreetly wipe the sweat from her palms.
She let out a long exhale, profoundly grateful she had listened to her son.
Nelson arrived outside The Xavier Archives. Just as he was about to push the door open, he heard Lydia Thorne's voice.
"Nelson."
Lydia was dressed with impeccable elegance, holding Josie's hand as they walked gracefully toward him.
Ever since the Sterling family banquet, she had actively avoided crossing paths with Nelson.
It was only after confirming these past few days that Nelson harbored no suspicions that she dared to approach him so openly.
She gave Josie's hand a gentle squeeze, and the little girl immediately ran forward and hugged Nelson's leg. "Daddy!"
Nelson pulled his hand back from the door, crouching down to hug her. "Out of school already?"
"Yeah! Your birthday is the day after tomorrow. I got you a present."
Josie lifted her chin proudly and patted her little backpack. "It's right in here. I want to show it to you tomorrow."
