The assistant didn't argue, simply replying, "Understood."
Caleb hung up just as he saw Juniper walking over.
He had texted her earlier, letting her know it was time to leave.
He opened the car door for her, and she slipped inside.
She looked pale. Had something happened?
Before he could ask, a man came striding fiercely toward them from the distance.
There were glaring red handprints on the man's face, his cheeks visibly swollen.
It was Nelson.
Caleb's eye twitched as he watched Juniper get out of the back and climb into the driver's seat.
His keys were still in the ignition.
Nelson reached the car and was just about to speak when the vehicle suddenly sped off.
He was left standing in a cloud of exhaust fumes, watching the taillights vanish into the night.
Caleb, who hadn't even gotten into his own car yet, was left stranded on the sidewalk.
Nelson let out a dark, frustrated laugh. After everything that had happened tonight, she truly despised him now.
He pressed his lips into a tight line as Caleb finally spoke up. "Mr. Saint."
Nelson didn't acknowledge him, his gaze still fixed on the direction the car had disappeared.
