Everyone had assumed Cillian simply had terrible luck, but the truth was, Yvonne had already made her move. Cillian had just barely survived it.
Her heart leaped to her throat, and she turned to look at Alistair. "Then you..."
Wasn't he in terrible danger?
Targeted by Yvonne, who knew how many assassination attempts he had narrowly dodged.
Alistair's lips curled upward. "The Saint family owns private hospitals, so Yvonne and I rarely cross paths professionally. Also, even though Eleanor sponsored me, she almost never met me in person. She simply heard about my family's tragedy and communicated through an intermediary. Yvonne only recently saw my face and started investigating me in the shadows. Back then, my mother was so paranoid that she pretended I was severely autistic, hiding me away tightly. No one around us had ever really seen me. But yes, I do bear a strong resemblance to Silas."
Cillian was his twin, so naturally, they shared that resemblance.
However, their entirely different upbringings had resulted in completely contrasting auras.
Alistair started the engine again. "As for Cillian's death, I genuinely don't know if Nelson was aware of the plot. At the end of the day, Yvonne is his mother."
Juniper clenched her fists so tightly her knuckles turned white, unable to speak a word.
Alistair said no more. Some things were best left to the imagination.
He knew Juniper would fill in the blanks herself, especially regarding the intertwined fates of Nelson and Cillian. Nelson had only survived because of Cillian. If it had all been a conspiracy from the very beginning, then who had meticulously planned Cillian's death?
Juniper had known Cillian for years. Long before Nelson had ever set foot in Oakley, she, her brother Brooks, and Cillian had been inseparable friends.
Then, shortly after, Cillian suffered his accident. He became a recluse, refusing to leave the house, his bright personality fading into a heavy silence.
Back then, everyone had felt sorry for him.
But it turned out... he had been deliberately harmed.
How many more brutal truths did she have to uncover? How many more people had died in the shadows?
