"Aunt Elara! I'm here to play with Dawn! Is she awake yet? Did she miss her favorite auntie?"
The girl’s bright, lively voice instantly caught Zachary's attention.
He paused on the staircase and threw a cool, indifferent glance in her direction.
Not far away, the girl—with her soft, slightly rounded face and sparkling, energetic eyes—flew toward Elara like a happy little bird.
Without a hint of reservation, she threw herself into Elara’s arms, hugging her tightly.
Elara caught her with a laugh, affectionately tugging at the high ponytail bouncing at the back of her head. "Dawn is still napping, but she should be up any minute now."
"Juno, perfect timing. Let me introduce you. This is Scarlett's mother, Jacqueline."
Elara then pointed toward the stairs. "And that is Scarlett's brother, Zachary Bishop."
Juno followed Elara’s gesture.
With the fresh, vibrant energy of a girl in her prime, she smiled brightly and offered a confident greeting. "Hi, Zachary. Nice to meet you, Jacqueline."
Jacqueline smiled warmly and nodded at the sweet girl.
On the stairs, Zachary’s expression remained entirely flat. He exuded an aura of unapproachable frost.
Glancing down at Juno, he gave a curt, monosyllabic response.
"Mm."
Just one sound. No warmth, no extra effort.
Unfazed, Juno turned her attention back to Elara, her voice bubbling with excitement. "When is Dawn waking up? I brought building blocks! I came specifically to play with her."
Elara smiled. "Soon, sweetie. Sit down and chat with us for a bit."
As Juno took a seat, her eyes wandered back to Zachary.
He stood tall and perfectly straight, his handsome face devoid of emotion. He was an island of cold silence, looking like a lone, unbothered glacier.
