Juno was just about to speak when Zachary suddenly bolted.
Startled, she held Dawn tight and hurried after him.
When she saw him stride into the garage, jump into a flashy neon-green sports car, and peel out of the driveway like a bat out of hell, her curiosity skyrocketed.
"Aunt Elara! I have something to do! I'll come back and play another time!"
Juno quickly yelled a goodbye into the house, bolted for her pink Lamborghini, and floored it, chasing right after him.
Zachary’s neon-green supercar tore through the streets toward the outskirts of the city like a bolt of lightning.
His face was grim, his foot heavy on the gas as he stayed on the line with Stellan.
"Is the intel solid? Are you absolutely sure they're going for the kill?"
Stellan's voice was frantic.
"Yes, hundred percent. But damn it, I'm stuck in Sutton City handling that other thing for you, and I can't get there in time."
"I tried calling Scarlett and Julian, but neither of them is picking up. I don't know if the signal is dead or if they just put their phones on silent for the meeting."
"I sent them messages, but who knows if they got them. Boss, what do we do? Are they in danger?"
Zachary’s expression was ice-cold, his voice frighteningly calm.
"I've heard Abbott is Kane Stetson's top enforcer. He doesn't get deployed for minor jobs, but when he does, nobody walks away alive."
His tone dropped a terrifying octave. "I guess I’ll have to meet this Abbott today and see if he lives up to the hype."
Stellan panicked.
"Boss, are you saying you're going in yourself?"
