She had come here to pick up Julian.
Just an hour ago, she had coincidentally overheard the Croft family's staff mentioning his return. Julian's recent attitude toward her was colder than a Siberian winter. He wouldn't answer her calls, wouldn't reply to her texts, and hadn't even bothered to tell her he was flying back.
But she couldn't afford to lose him, and she certainly couldn't afford to lose the Croft family's immense backing. No matter what, she had to cling to him. So, she had dressed to the nines, ensuring that Julian would spot her immediately in the crowd and be instantly captivated by her striking beauty.
"Does it not look good?"
At his critical tone, she instinctively spun around, her confidence taking a massive hit.
Yardley's frown deepened. He was already furious, and his words lacked any trace of politeness. "You're trying way too hard. It doesn't suit you. You should stick to your usual style instead of constantly changing. This provocative, sexy look isn't you at all."
Sylvia swallowed her pride, pouting in grievance.
He shoved his suitcase into her hands. "You're here to pick me up, right? Don't tell me you came here for Julian too."
Sylvia froze. The word "too" set off alarm bells in her head.
Seeing him already walking toward her car, she awkwardly grabbed the suitcase and stumbled after him in her stilettos, panting heavily. "Yardley, what do you mean 'too'? Who else came to pick him up?"
He didn't even look back. He was so angry he could have punched a wall. "Who else? Scarlett."
"She brought him flowers and drove him away. They were laughing and chatting like they've known each other forever."
"Sylvia, I seriously suspect we've both been kept in the dark. I think they've been involved for a long time. They're incredibly close!"
He stopped abruptly, and she nearly crashed into his back. Turning around, he scrutinized her with pure suspicion.
