"Julian was working on a highly classified national design project. He wouldn't have had any opportunity to slip away. Besides, neither Julian nor Scarlett are the type of people to..."
Sylvia grabbed her hair in sheer frustration.
"Oh my god! Yardley, after everything, you're still defending their character?"
"They're practically flaunting it in your face! Scarlett bought shares in Croft Design Studio, and Julian immediately buys her a supercar. Are you blind to something this obvious?"
"And I heard that Croft Design Studio is holding a massive signing ceremony tomorrow. They're securing long-term contracts with three of the top 100 global developers, and Scarlett and Julian are attending together as partners."
"We both know Julian keeps strict boundaries. If he didn't have feelings for Scarlett, would he go to such extreme lengths to elevate a junior architect? Let's be real, her design skills are worse than mine!"
Sylvia's delusional arrogance made Yardley frown deeply.
"Scarlett's design skills are absolutely superior to yours. Without her drafts, the Zenith Tower project wouldn't even exist."
Melanie couldn't take it anymore and slammed the desk hard.
"Yardley, wake up! She is dragging you to court to take back the copyright and leaving your entire project in ruins!"
"You're being soft and sentimental, and she is ruthlessly pushing you into a corner. How much longer are you going to hide like a coward?"
"I always took pride in having you as my brother, but you're being so pathetic right now! Clarissa and Mom are disgusted, Catherine is worried sick abroad, Dad's dealing with a massive mess, and if you keep acting like this, you're going to lose your position as head of the family!"
Yardley's temples throbbed violently, his mind a chaotic mess.
He said nothing, closing his eyes and leaning back in his chair, forcing himself to calm down.
As he mentally replayed their words, his heart rate involuntarily spiked.
What they said... wasn't entirely baseless.
Since his daughter was born, he could count the times he had seen her on one hand. Scarlett clearly had no intention of letting him be involved.
What normal mother actively tries to keep a father away? It didn't make sense. Unless... the child really wasn't his, and she belonged to someone else.
