Clarissa had been dozing at her desk, exhausted from working late.
Being suddenly violently yanked up by her collar shocked her awake. When she realized Scarlett was kneeling on her desk, scattering her important documents across the floor, her shock morphed into fury.
She gritted her teeth, glaring at Scarlett. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"
"Flynn Group is not your personal playground! What do you want?"
"What do I want?!" Scarlett hoisted Clarissa higher by her collar, her voice a venomous hiss. "I should be asking you what the hell the Flynn family wants!"
"I used to think you were the only one in this godforsaken family with a shred of humanity, Clarissa. But it turns out you're the most deceitful, despicable snake of them all!"
"Tell me! Where did you hide Dawn?!"
Scarlett's blood was roaring in her ears. Every single second that ticked by without knowing her baby was safe felt like an agonizing eternity in hell.
Clarissa looked genuinely baffled. "I have no idea what you're talking about! Doesn't your daughter live with you? Why are you asking me?"
She paused, the pieces suddenly clicking into place. She bolted out of her chair, ripping herself from Scarlett's grip. "Don't tell me you lost the baby!"
"Scarlett, that child has Flynn blood! We trusted her in your care, and you... you managed to lose her?! What kind of useless mother are you?"
Scarlett let out a harsh, mocking laugh. "Keep acting! Let's pretend you didn't forge Yardley's signature on our settlement agreement! Most people wouldn't notice, but I know his handwriting!"
"You tried to pull a fast one with the paperwork to steal custody, and the second that failed, you hired thugs to snatch Dawn off the street! A brilliant little backup plan! I expect nothing less from the brilliant Director Flynn!"
