Talia threw her arms out wide, guarding Scarlett fiercely. "You want to fight? Come at me, Clarissa! Don't you dare touch my best friend!"
"Your family is absolute garbage! You agree to a divorce, then play dirty and tamper with the papers! You literally orchestrated a kidnapping, and now you're playing the victim?!"
"You people make me physically sick!"
"It's an embarrassment to Bay City that a 'noble' family like yours even exists! Tell us where the baby is and admit you forged those papers right now! If you do, maybe Scarlett will show you some mercy. But if you keep playing dumb, you're going to regret it for the rest of your miserable life!"
Just moments ago, while Scarlett was yelling at Clarissa, Talia's phone had buzzed. Stellan had texted her, having failed to reach Scarlett. He asked if Talia was with her. When Talia said yes, Stellan told her not to worry. He revealed that every single security guard working at Flynn Group was contracted through a subsidiary owned by Scarlett's brother.
In other words, no matter how many guards Clarissa summoned, when push came to shove, they only answered to Scarlett.
When Talia read that text, she practically screamed 'Holy Shit' out loud. Realizing she was in the middle of a major power trip, she aggressively stepped up to challenge Clarissa, high on absolute confidence.
Scarlett had no idea where Talia's sudden bravery was coming from. Seeing her famously timid best friend put herself in the line of fire brought tears to Scarlett's eyes.
Suddenly, a swarm of burly men in sharp security uniforms flooded into Clarissa's office.
The captain stepped forward, bowing respectfully to Clarissa. "Director Flynn."
Clarissa's confidence soared. She pointed a manicured finger at Scarlett and Talia, her face a mask of cold authority. "Drag these two out of my office. Lock them in an empty conference room until the police arrive."
