None of the women in the room expected Yardley's immediate, reflexive defense of Scarlett.
Instantly, their tempers flared.
Melanie was the first to stand up. "Yardley, have you lost your mind? Sylvia is in this state, and you're still protecting that bitch?"
Veronica chimed in, her tone laced with clear dissatisfaction. "Exactly. Anyone with eyes can see she's the one behind this. Who else would have the motive to ruthlessly target Sylvia like this?"
Fuming, Corinne marched up to Yardley and smacked him hard on the arm.
"Stop being so soft on her! Look at how badly she's bullying us!"
"Yardley, you have to teach her a lesson for what she did to Sylvia."
Yardley looked up, a deep exhaustion lingering in his eyes.
"I've already had my team look into it. There is absolutely zero evidence tying her to any of this."
"Furthermore, even if she did orchestrate it, Sylvia started it by trying to have her best friend lured to Tyrellia Country, nearly causing an unthinkable tragedy."
"When does the cycle of revenge stop? If we keep going back and forth like this, it's just going to mentally exhaust everyone."
Hearing Yardley say that, Sylvia immediately teared up, feeling incredibly wronged.
"Mmph... mmph..."
She desperately wanted to argue, to beg Yardley to get justice for her, but with her tongue completely swollen, she couldn't articulate a single sound.
Yardley patted her shoulder, his eyes dark and serious.
"The most important thing right now is the Flynn Group's thirtieth anniversary gala."
"This gala is going to be the biggest turning point in the company's history. I expect everyone to focus their time and energy strictly on this. I will not tolerate any unnecessary drama right now."
As soon as Yardley framed it like that, Corinne instantly changed her tune.
