He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 728

She didn't even need to see the woman's face to know exactly who was hiding there.

Instead of leaving, Scarlett deliberately pulled out a chair at the long table and sat down, looking entirely ready for a lesson.

Heidi was internally screaming. She never expected Scarlett to actually swallow her pride and stay. Her face turned darker than a thundercloud.

Forcing out a dry laugh, Heidi shot a panicked glance at the AC unit before suppressing her anxiety. She picked up a pair of floral shears, her voice strained. "Well, if you're both still in the mood, let's begin."

Looking completely unbothered, Scarlett let her eyes drift over the massive selection of flowers on the table.

Instead of reaching for the standard, universally loved options like red roses or lisianthus, she picked up a tall, striking, vibrantly colored Bird of Paradise.

Next, she grabbed a few sharp palm leaves and a couple of stark, aloof calla lilies.

Heidi frowned, her tone dripping with subtle mockery. "Is this your first class, Scarlett? Flower arranging is supposed to evoke harmony and warmth. Your choices look a bit... aggressive, don't you think?"

*Snip.* Scarlett smoothly sheared the excess leaves off a stem, her movements incredibly precise.

She looked up at Heidi, her eyes entirely calm.

"Most people love peonies for their wealth and roses for their beauty. But the world still needs people who appreciate the resilience of a Bird of Paradise and the quiet pride of a calla lily."

"I don't care for flowers that have been pruned into smooth, people-pleasing shapes just to fit in. Some flowers have thorns. Some are cold. But at least they're authentic, and they stand on their own without copying everyone else."

But Scarlett seemed to have glued herself to the chair.

Not only was she taking her sweet time perfecting her arrangement, but she also kept asking Heidi endless, detailed questions. Heidi was dying inside but had to maintain a fake smile.

She was truly learning the meaning of the phrase, "easy to invite, impossible to kick out."

Heidi kept throwing nervous glances at the AC unit, catching glimpses of Corinne's face, which was rapidly turning purple from lack of oxygen. She was panicking but entirely helpless.

Suddenly, the cafe door swung open, and a tall figure walked in. A cold, deep voice cut through the room.

"Heidi? Have you seen my mother? She's not answering her phone."
