He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 745

Taking a deep breath, Yardley made up his mind. "Alright, I'll be right up."

Ending the call, he tossed the cheap keycard onto the desk, grabbed his suitcase, and walked out of the suffocating room without looking back.

With a soft chime, the elevator arrived at the top floor.

The moment the doors parted, he saw Sylvia waiting for him. She was dressed in a black silk slip, a matching robe draped loosely over her shoulders. Her wavy hair was pinned up in a messy bun, a few strands falling gracefully against her pale neck. She looked warm and delicate, carrying the fresh scent of a recent shower.

"You're finally here! I've been waiting for you," she cooed, her watery eyes sparkling with delight, her voice soft and sweet.

Yardley cast a cold, assessing look over her. "Why are you dressed like that?"

"It... it's just my sleepwear!" she stammered, biting her lip playfully. "I wore things like this all the time during my postpartum recovery. What are you so worried about? Honestly."

He withdrew his gaze, his tone returning to its usual aloofness. "I wouldn't have bothered you, but there was an issue with my booking. They gave me a standard room, and I simply can't sleep in conditions like that."

"I know, I know! You don't need to be so polite with me." Sylvia beamed, stepping forward to take his jacket. She eagerly linked her arm through his, ready to guide him toward her suite.

Just then, a door down the hall clicked open.

Sylvia nodded enthusiastically, looking incredibly flattered. "Okay. Once you shower, we'll go together."

Though he spoke to Sylvia, his gaze remained fiercely locked onto his ex-wife. He was desperately searching for even a flicker of jealousy or care in her eyes. But Scarlett's mask was flawless. He couldn't read a damn thing.

"Right, let's go," Yardley said coldly, his face devoid of emotion despite the storm raging in his eyes.

Without another word to Scarlett, he walked away with Sylvia clinging to him. Julian glanced over his shoulder, noting that the two of them entered the massive suite at the very end of the hall.
